I thought CK was saying that SMU isn't as good as Hobart. So confusing.

That list is heavily flawed. For starters the Historic Third Ward and Sunnyside are not even close to the worst neighborhoods in Houston. Greenspoint (we call it Guns Point) , Sharpstown, Bissonet near the Beltway, Eastside Barrio, 5th Ward are the worst ones. Especially Gunspoint and 5th ward.

Second, notce how no neighborhoods in NYC, Washington DC, LA, and Oakland to name a few aren't listed? You're meaning to tell me that Houston is more dangerous than all of those? If you believe that to be the case then I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Data from your own town: http://www.houstontx.gov/health/chs/Gre ... 20Ward.pdf

Yes, older data.

Story from 2011:

http://www.khou.com/news/local/3rd-Ward ... 13593.html

-"Every week it seems like it’s somebody else," said Eric Eason, a lifelong Third Ward resident.

Again you're pointing at other places. "There are other bad places in Houston. Have you seen DC and Oakland lately?" Keep deflecting but there is less crime in University Park than the 10th district.

http://houston.cbslocal.com/2012/10/17/ ... n-houston/

Gunspoint on the list.
"According to NeighborhoodScout, Houston has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. With a crime rate of 67 per one thousand residents, One’s chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 15. Within Texas, more than 97% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Houston. In fact, after researching dangerous places to live, NeighborhoodScout found Houston to be one of the top 100 most dangerous cities in the U.S.A."

Based on the statistics above, the following list reveals the parts in Houston with the highest crime rates.

2nd Ward
3rd Ward
4th Ward
5th Ward
Sunnyside
Studewood
Acres Home
South Park
Hiram Clarke
Shapstown
Cloverland
Homestead/Tidwell Area
Alief
Missouri city
Greater Greenspoint Area

I endorse Cougar Queen... for Houston Ambassador to the Sultan of Brunei. Let him go there and far, far away to tell his stories about the wonders of UH. Only a potentate such as the Sultan could appreciate the fantastic tales told by the Cougar Queen. Ah, mighty UH... embraced by the seductive environs of South Houston... sirens, not of Greece... to tempt the wayward... but of the Houston South Ward Police!

The first time I heard the UH band, I thought I was at a high school game... Can you imagine having to go home and tell your friends you just got accepted to UH and are in the band! OMG!

malonish wrote:Everywhere has its jerks but the data points to the third ward having lots of crime.

The quickest thing someone with poor evidence can do is to attack the person who is actually presenting good evidence. It's called Argumentum ad Hominem. For example, if I say X number of crimes happen yearly in the thrid ward and you point out that Y < X crimes happen in University Park, that does not invalidate third wards crimes. I don't know anyone else's intentions but I'm not race baiting, I'm putting forth data.

And it's "She'll be loaded with Peruna when she comes." Screw prohibition, right?

Another reason why UH students never get great jobs- they can't write: "Second, notce how no neighborhoods in NYC, Washington DC, LA, and Oakland to name a few aren't listed?"

Yet this high school draws 3-4 times the crowd SMU does. (Actual attendance not the heavily inflated reported attendance SMU has a tendency for)

If were a hs and considering all of the beatdowns you have received from us in football and basketball in addition to the better support Houston gives us as opposed to the support.(and I use this term very loosely when talking about the ponies) Dallas gives to you. Also taking into account the superior recruiting we have had over you for many years, then what does that make SMU?

Remember if UH had never stepped in, SMU would have stayed in CUSA. Once the P5 comes calling, we will be taken over you hands down. So remember SMUs place in the college landscape.

Provide proof that UH is the reason SMU joined. I can make an equally valid claim that SMU brought UH along with the amount of evidence you provided. He said, she said, you said, I said is a fun game.

From several sources at the time, SMU was going to be a travel partner for TCU in early talks. When TCU bailed, Big East picked Houston to replace them. This is fun.

I knew you could not resist saying something idiotic. You have such an inferiority complex it is pathetic. Having you ever thought of having UH change its mascot from a Cougar to a Toad - no not a Horned Frog - just a regular Toad, with warts. This would be far more appropriate to your school and its alumni than any other form of animal.

Typo... in my enthusiasm to lampoon our favorite idiot troll... The sentence should read "Have you ever thought...[,]" instead of "Having..."

I know, right? We may disagree on stuff, have our squabbles, but I will fight at your side against any other team's fans. Gotta keep chasing the dream.

Anyway, who do you have winning the UFC lightweight title next weekend? Henderson or Pettis?
