So who are you thinking?
I'm thinking ambitious, young assistant with a track record in landing big time Texas recruits. Basically the anti-June Jones.
Tom Herman (OC Ohio State), Clarence McKinney (OC A&M- former Texas HS coach), David Beaty (WR/RC A&M- former Texas HS coach).

All nice choices. I would try Chad Morris as well.

Herman would be a great choice. Good TX ties and has coached with some of the top coaches.

Looking at some of the names you mentioned. I just have one question for you. . . Are you currently in Colorado?

HELL! I mentioned Flanigan after the Montana St game, and was ridiculed for mentioning it. . . Something about him not being qualified to coach SMU Football. . . If, SMU makes a coaching change after the season. Ramon would be my choice.

How about the guy that left WVU and is now at A&M? Jake Spavital. It would be like Tech hiring Kliff except he didn't go to SMU.
Spavital is regarded by many as one of the brightest young coaches in football. He helped groom Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State) and Geno Smith (WVU) and now will be hands-on with Manziel.
He's a Missouri State grad and is only 27-28 years old. Kliff wouldn't have been hired at Tech is he wasn't a grad and star player under Leach. I thought programs like NMSU and UAB would be better starting points for Jake but their coaches are just 1 and 2 years into their regimes at those storied programs.

Hasn't been a playcaller yet, not much of a recruiting profile (especially when compared to some of his fellow Aggie assistants). There are much better fits for our needs out there than him.
