I said that short of a miracle recruiting turnaround, he needs to go. I'm just thankful he saved SMU football. Why hate? The man's been great for us.
Anything less than total agreement is not enough for some folks.
June got us out of a hole. Now he's started digging another. I don't ignore the miracle of getting out of the first hole but I dang sure am looking out for us fulling into the second one.
Maine, thanks for weighing in from 1700 miles. Been to both home games this year? Last? Year before? The university and donors are committed? Whom to what? This university isn't committed to jack squat. CoC committed to jj salary. Turner is fine with shifting to a bball school and watching fb go to a lower level. If Turner had no one to answer to, we would be a U if Chicago. Would have been 15 years ago.

That's the overstatement of the century. If it were only so easy to drop football and become a UChicago. If you think that is what is keeping SMU from being a top 5 school, then not sure what else there is to say. I think I understand what you were trying to say, but football isnt an impediment necessarily. I'm ok being a basketball school if we can become a Georgetown, which we're still far away from. My point is that Being so bad at football cannot really help us. The football program is an embarrassment, and the responsibility lies with Jones.

You obviously don't get what he is trying to say. The point of citing UC is their lack of football and bball not their academic credentials

Agree with the first sentence, but the last one is just stupid. The main reason to be ready for the guy to go is that he's proven his coaching style isn't working to get us to the next level. The rest is petty opinionated drivel.

He said if turner had no one to answer to, we would be a UChicago. How is that not understanding? do you really think folks at SMU would keep him from helping us achieve that (even at the risk of not having D1 sports)? That would be one dumb tradeoff. Anyways, not even worth getting into a debate about this.

He has destroyed what he has built. The top of the program was before the ASU debacle... We had amazing WRs and other recruits then he pulled that crap and it all tumbled. He hasnt been able to bring solid players to this school and even when he gets decent gifts from Texas, we still suck... So I'm sorry if Im not gratefull, well not really, but he is starting cause more of a problem that what was here before. If he really wanted SMU to go to the moon, he should have stayed here and not mess around with ASU. If his plans arent working, then he should have retired. I thought someone brought it up that he said SMU was his last place... well... i guess he changed his mind...
