You are correct Johnny. This is the weakness of running a pass only offense with 2 star receivers. I actually feel sorry for Gilbert. He tried to force it in since that was all that available. He probably should start calling an audible and hand it off.

Yeah, sucks we ran fresh out of PB-recruited receivers

I wouldn't call this year's bball team "top notch". We will be much improved and I expect a better than .500 season with a post season invite "somewhere", but don't expect giant steps or you will soon be calling for Larry Brown's head

Thank you to you guys pointing out the real problem weak WRs in a pass happy offense. No offense leads to the breakdown of our Ds morale..

granted our WRs have their issues, but I'm, tired of everyone defending GG as some great QB surrounded by incompetence. Just when Nlemchi is starting to feel it, he's isolated one on one with a defender on a little swing pass and GG throws it behind him...basically blowing up the play. That wasn't the only bad throw he made to an open receiver. This is an offense that is built on hitting guys in stride on those short passes He's been no more accurate than anyone we've had since the death penalty. He's just one more very average player on a very average team...that does not deserve to be playing in a BCS conference.

He picked the wrong day to have his worst game that I have seen. He felt off all day - but some of that is excellent obviously downfield coverage.
He did nothing very well today either. His best throws were in 4th qtr after the game was basically over.

Yeah he probably in give up mode since averages getting sacked like 8-9 times a game. If I were him I would be forcing passes in hopes something actually happens since our WRs blow more than any other player on the team and sadly I'm including our offensive line.

6 years and we still haven't found a decent QB-maybe ,just maybe Burcham might pan out. It was ridiculous to let GG play the entire game but I guess JJ didn't want to send Burcham in to the wolves.

and that's exactly why Burcham should be getting some snaps in a game like this. let's see if he can make quick decisions under pressure and throw a catchable ball on target. If our "regular season's" hopes hinge on GG, why leave him in a game like that and risk injury?

Maybe, but we will destroy the ponies in baseball and track.

You need to raise your expectations. I didn't call them a top 15 team, but since most of these "new" guys have been on campus for a year, they'll come out of the gates strong.
