Per Rivals, Just 3...
Tyler Harris, QB - Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi
Shelby Walker , WR - Michigan St, Utah
Jordan Wyatt, DB - Iowa State
That's it.... Total..... 7 of the 14 have exactly zero FBS offers. 5 of those have exactly zero other offers at all and the two that have other offers both only got one from the powerhouse that is Yale. That's absolutely pathetic and mind blowing if you ask me.

Then this probably won't be happening
" With the talent on hand 0-12 is more likely even if we keep June (let's not forget he did
have a 1-11 season). ]"
That is wut happens when you fire coaches. 0-11

Even great ones who took us to more
wins than we deserved like Hayden Fry.

Or it's what happens when you keep crappy coaches too long (like sub. 500 types that routinely get beat by legit competition).

If this is as good as SMU football is going to get, I don't really care if we go 0-11 every season for the rest of my lifetime. I don't think .500 football in a horrible conference, getting blown out by any team anyone has ever heard of is any fun. I don't really see a difference between the two scenarios.

Hasn't there always been speculation if the offer to Harris from Alabama was "real"? Didn't they get a commitment from another QB?

Read on Rivals that he was offered by Alabama but not all Saban's offers are considered "commitable" at the time of offer. Saban likes to go back and evaluate after offering his top guys and then accept a commitment from the highest guy on his board. Harris was down the list behind several other QBs (Jacob Park-UGA, David Cornwell-Bama, Keller Chryst-Stanford). So it wasn't like Harris could just immediately accept their offer. Those other offers he lists moved on after getting other commitments so Harris was pretty much down to us and USF.

You must not have been around for the 1989-2003ish version of SMU football. You probably would have enjoyed:
The year we lost half of our games by 30 or more points (actually - this happened multiple years)
10 game losing streaks (again multiple times, including 14-15 in a row at one point).
The Day Baylor chose to not bother throwing the ball at all because their QB, JJ Joe, was injured. Not one pass in the game. Just ran the ball - and SMU coaching staff knew it was coming as the QB injury was announced before the game. I think it was 44-10 final, but could have been worse.
The day Houston ran the score up to 95-21, to pad some stats for their QBs.
The year where we lost 2-3 games because we could not figure out how to kick an extra point.
The day a WR from Oklahoma State caught 7 TDs against us on our home turf.
Annual beatdowns by bottom feeder schools like Rice, Tulane, Navy.
And many, many more hits. Too bad you missed this era, you would have loved it!

I remember the beat downs in the last games versus Rice, Tulane, and Navy.
