I have mentioned this before, I have started to wonder if Adidas/Nike have approached SMU in the past about "special" uniform's and SMU said no.

I don't care if we wear used Russell uniforms (yes i do), but if we are going to promote something new, take the damn effort to market it properly, or don't promote it at all. We'll see how this roll-out teaser plays out, where we get an inside look at the life of a seamstress. However, the initial blast with a blurry mock-up done in MS Paint was a joke.

Build some excitement around what you're doing. No budget or big advertising dollars? Have a film class do a contest to hype our new uniforms, and announce the winner at half time. Heck, that might get some more of the Meadows folks in the seats.

I hope this weeks teasers culminate into something exciting, so I will save judgment until tomorrow or Friday when this campaign should culminate.

We will have a video later this week. That said, the jerseys have not even arrived on campus yet. We had to go film at the company doing the nameplates and patches, so while the video is great, it won't be like the ones to which you're linking. We had to take a different approach.

Wonder no more. We'd listen. It's just not the way these things work. We'd absolutely "let them" do different uniforms.

I am curious as to how these things work. Does SMU have to make a pitch to Nike about something (such as new jerseys, alternate jerseys, helmets, etc.) and they have to decide yes or no?

They did (you've seen that art on our webpage - Peruna11 called it a "blurry mock-up done in MS Paint" ), we approved and we bought the jerseys. For "usual" jerseys, SMU, like most other schools, pick from a Nike catalog with a options on color, stripes, fonts, etc.

Helmets are different as they are produced Riddell and Schutt and can be "treated" by other companies.

SID - any way that we could contribute to get our kids those gloves like the TAMU pic above? Have a Mustang on the inside of the gloves when they interlock their hands - that would look pretty great and I can't imagin they are expensive.

I would be happy to contribute to a fund for something like that - for the kids. Thx
