Memphis is 11th in total defense and 27th in scoring defense and we haven't put up a decent offensive game on the road since we beat TCU in 2011.

Does anyone else feel like it's 1989 all over again?

This is really excellent news. It means that any of us/you who have Las Vegas connections can clean up a bundle from this game. I don't see many games where the odds makers offer a sure chance for $$ making, but this is it. Make your phone calls. Now. (And in case I need to say it, bet on the Ponies, take the 3.)

They held UH to 247 yards Total Offense-about 1 yard per rush and about 44% completion average. UH was averaging over 500 Total Offense before the game. Looks like a big challenge for our Offense

i agree memphis is improving - so i am not taking them lightly - but comparing their game vs Houston vs Houston's other games is not valid - they have had a complete cupcake schedule so far.
We have had murderers row - minus montana state.
I rarely say load up on the mustangs on the road since we are notoriously bad on the road - but i would bet ponies on that line all day.

We did beat Memphis at the Liberty Bowl 42-0 in 2011. Zach cleaned up; don't think the RnS was firing on most cylinders though.

It should be interesting to see what our offense can do against there defense. Sort of hard to gauge what will happen, SMU has moved the ball pretty well against better completion at times, then we saw what happened in the second half against Rutgers. Houston was the first "explosive" offense the Memphis defense had faced this year and the Cougars were held in check. Of course, SMU's road record under June is not stellar. Removing the emotional factor from the decision, I don't know how I would bet on this game.

the turnover margin has kind of turned on SMU this year. I was reading earlier-I think- that we are -7 in turnover margin 12 to 5 with only 2 Ints and I don't believe we have any Defensive TDs.

Nope. I feel like it's immediately after the Tulane game last year.

I think Memphis would be like the week before the Tulane game as Memphis is comparable to Tulane. But the team needs to plat better than they did against Tulane.

This isn't like Tulane. Tulane had lost 15 games in a row before beating SMU

Right. It's less bad.

That team did more with less, a lot less.
