Re: Tradition
How ' bout we embrace all our greats and all our eras so that we can show that we aren't a "one trick pony" in the 80s? But bit the Ohio State unis...those are an abomination.

Re: Tradition
I really like the fact that we show Doak, ED/CJ/LM in our pre-game video...we are so closeted about our past greatness...I wish we'd project video/audio of Forrest Gregg, Dickerson, Doak, LeVias on the walls in the concourse...sort of a "living history" sort of thing...

I lost to mrydel the other day. I only had ten feet of Benjamins and he had 22 feet.Cougar King wrote:Another SMU tradition, is seeing who has the tallest stack of cash.

Better than Houston where they see who has the biggest cache of stash.

Re: Tradition
As someone pointed out earlier, you can't just come up with something and call it a tradition. You can have all the great chants, yells, and pregame activities but until the product on the field generates excitement while playing noteworthy opponents, it won't matter. The Boulevard is awesome and it is has turned into a great gameday tradition but when the tradition is more entertaining than the event the tradition is built around, you have a problem.

Re: Tradition
The problem with starting traditions is that everybody has to be all-in initially. It's taken three season to get the Red-Blue cross-stadium cheer going. It'd love to try a S-M-U cross-stadium cheer but egads!
The cheerleaders know about it, the school knows about it, signs have been made...but there has been little effort by the AD to really get it going, despite the fact that the cheerleaders and Mustang XI like doing it.
Besides a particular Phil Bennett defensive scheme, nothing about our athletics program is ever done all-in. We really enjoy [kittykat]-footing around.

Our average SAT/ACT scores are higher than Tech's, our admissions percentage is also lower than theirs but whatever.

Re: Tradition
We have to many old white people at our games. We need young natural light drinking fans to liven the place up. We don't need more fans who want to do beer tasting contests from the local breweries during the games. We need rowdy border line wasted fans.

Getting hammered is one of the safest things to do in Houston. Just don't drive afterward. Then you get down to the teens of safest things to do.Arkpony wrote:CK--You are getting hammered!

Re: Tradition
Peruna, the Mustang Band, drunk student body who leaves at halftime. Those are traditions that have been around for at least 40 years. Doak Walker era, Red jerseys. Hayden Fry gave us the royal blue jerseys with Arkansas Red helmets (with Mustang on side). Dave Smith tried the Ohio State red jersey with silver helmets (a thin blue stripe on helmet and pants surrounding a red stripe). Ron Meyer came up with the Royal blue jerseys and the White helmets with the Red Mustang on the side. He told me, our colors are red and blue, we need to prominently display both colors. JJ would rather our colors be black and blue, I think.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
