I'd put any SEC team in the top 25 right now up against anyone outside it. Yeah, LSU lost to Old Miss and UGA lost to Vandy; I'd put either one up against a Rutgers or USC or TCU. Auburn has recruited extremely well - honestly or not - over the past years and only needed the right game-day coach, no offense to Chizik. Florida has WAY to much taken to not be considered a top 25 team, regardless OC their issues at QB - they whipped Miami everywhere but TOs and the scoreboard.


As far as adding two middle of the road Big XII teams is concerned - the SEC knew what it was doing. A&M thumped OU in the Cotton Bowl and I think they'd whip them and UT right now. Mizzou is built to win if they only recognized it. Moving into the SEC may very well have allowed them to take better advantage of their natural assets.

Yes, I genuinely believe the SEC deserves eight teams in the top 25.

If that's truly the case then they need to create two divisions - the SEC and everyone else. Like they do in Texas HS football. Have a division I and II champion. If the SEC is THAT much better than everyone else, it's not fair to the SEC schools to let a school playing weaker competition have equal chance at playing in a national championship.

Sadly, for LSU, Alabama, and to some degree Florida and UGA just getting someone to play on the schedule requires deals of huge proportions (I mean enormous payouts). I know Alabama alumni, fans, students, and coaches remain disgusted with the schedule. It is the main reason students refuse to attend games which chaps the hide of those people who are on wait lists (up to 4 and 5 years) for season tickets. I know Mal Moore tried to get home and home games with that creep Deloss Dodds and he refused. Heck, he won't even play aTm. Hopefully with the playoff coming and 9 conference games, Alabama won't schedule below the MWC or AAC (and I'm NOT trying to offend anyone - I'm sober today). Sorry, but I think C-USA, MAC, SoCon, and the Sun Belt should have their own championship within the FBS (like division I and II in Texas).

Unfortunately, this is exactly the argument they are making. The 'We need to separate the men from the boys' plan for college football the threatens us being left behind.

The sec is the best conference in the nation, but the love it gets from the media is insane. When Missouri and A&M were joining the sec, the media claimed the would not be .500 in the big bad sec. And now that they are both excelling, the common opinion is, they are playing well because they stepped up their game in the sec. Nowhere do you read that maybe the sec is overrated. When they had horrible QB play 3 years ago, all you would hear about was that their defenses are so tough. Watch the Bama/LSU game from 3 years ago, it's not great defense, it's horrible offense.

I think it's because (and aTm for sure) recruiting is much easier when you play in the SEC. In fact, the coach at Oklahoma State said that when aTm went to the SEC it hurt their recruiting in Texas because all the kids prefer to play in the SEC. Shhhh, don't tell Deloss that.

Winning a heisman helped A&M's recruiting more than anything. Also, this is only the second year in the sec for both programs. Are true sophomores and true freshmen making that much of a difference? That is my point, common sense is thrown out the window when people talk about sec.

The SEC would wipe the floor with any other conference-and it wouldn't be close. The only thing keeping it SOMEWHAT close is the NFL undergraduate draft. They get 8-9 teams in the Top 25 recruiting class and not surprisingly in the Polls. Yesterday showed how strong it is not how weak it is

Yeah, the SEC is the best conference in the country, it isn't really close, and it hasn't been for some time.

Really wished they would step up their out of conference scheduling and add another conference game

I think yesterday only helped prove that South Carolina is wildly overrated, Georgia is devastated by injuries, Gus malzhan is an amazing play caller and nobody knows what to make of Missouri other than you can't say that because a remarkably average team is in first place in its division, you can't say that the division is overrated.

They will end up playing 9 games, just a matter of time.

Could have sworn Bama played Western Kentucky last year...last time I looked, they were in the Sun Belt

Eastern division of the SEC is really balanced now that GA suffered the injuries they have. Someone could win that division with 2 losses this year. I'm just not sold on Missou yet

ONe of the first things that Missouri did when they got into the SEC was put up billboards in metro Atlanta to increase their visibility among recruits in this area. I think they signed that Eddie Printz guy that Klemm originally recruited for us. A&M is also opening up a pipeline for the Georgia recruits. Florida panhandle and Georgia kids usually set the balance of power in the conference. The Tide has Alabama locked up. It will be cool to see the influx of TX kids into the conference.

Have you guys seeen the Mizzou wideouts? They are huge.
