Re: Odd Student Seating for New Moody
Hard to see students getting that excited about sitting behind the baskets for the majority of the seats. The athletic department must be need to find every penny since they are selling the only decent student tickets for $49.

for the last 10 years all i have heard is the students should be sitting in the "Blue Seats" - as a season ticket holder who sits in the "Blue Seats" there have been very few games that there would have been enough students to fill 1 section of the "Blue Seats"let alone 3 sections and i have been to most of all of our home game - now the students have a chance to fill up the mid-section ( mid-court - some of the best seats in the house) and some of you are complaining - hopefully we will get 1500 students to come to the games on a regular basis - i will be pleasantly surprised if we average 500

From what I can tell, most major programs stick their student sections behind the baskets. It has the advantage of getting the kids courtside without giving up the opportunity to sell the best courtside seats for big money. Plus, if they are rowdy, it looks good on TV.

Most conferences (and I assume the American is the same) have a rule like the visiting team gets 50 complimentary tickets directly behind their bench, so that's why the students can't be in that section. I assume Larry wants the recruits directly behind our bench so I assume that's why the students can't be in 111. I'm all for giving the students the best seats but let's be honest I'd rather set aside too few tickets for the students than too many and look like complete fools with the entire lower bowl of the arena facing the TV cameras on January 4th being empty because our students are back home in California for Christmas Break.

I doubt we will have a section worth of recruits. Students are behind our bench now, they should give them 111 also.

baseline seats are always fun when FTs are being shot; maybe we just don't have enough knowledgeable students to appreciate those seats? That will change if this program becomes a national power
Re: Odd Student Seating for New Moody
Students behind the basket are a disruption to the visiting team. Plus they will be on TV a lot in those seats as well as the seats behind the announcers.

Having recruits mingling with students is probably not best compliance wise, but obviously I'm no expert. The student body has largely shown no interest in supporting the team but now suddenly wants the best seats in the house for a far superior schedule? Their seating is on par with the rest of the country and more than adequate. If you want center court seats join the Mob for $49.

In the Mustang Club tent before the Memphis game, Hart was asked about filling the lower bowl on Jan. 4 when students were out. He said they plan to make a major effort to have former athletes at the game and seat them in the bowl.
