Don't like the idea of calling it the Pavillion, the Corral sounds better. Need to make sure we don't go to far with the Tent and TVs, I like the idea and we need to have incentives to sit/stand there but if it comes off like another country club affair that is not good.

Agreed. My thought was the Corral would be open air stands built on the hillside, directly behind the goalpost. (Cleveland Dog Pound style!) Students would be totally engaged in the game.

Yeah I see what you are talking about-a multi-level project that probably excavates into the hillside for fans more interested in watching game-then you could put a more permanent structure on the landing which would probably include an open air patio bar type setting and the TV monitors. Permanent, professional designed but informal and allowing for ease of movement to allow socializing while keeping an eye on the game and enjoying the college environment

Stallion: "yeah a permanent, professionally designed, partially enclosed patio concept with TV monitors that opens up fully to the field. I think its a great idea."

Didn't Rice do or is planning to do something such as this in their endzone? Makes a lot of sense.

If you have been to an FC Dallas game this season they have a setup the stadium end where they have about 5 rows of bleachers for fans to get real close to the field then a flat area behind with TVs and a bar. Maybe something a little larger with bleachers the first 10 rows across the back then have the other behind it. The issue probably will be the part about making it permanent since that is our expansion area, they probably won't spend the kind of money you need to. Putting bleachers up at the top won't work the students have to be right at the wall.

Horse trough is actually a great idea. Have some fun with it.

Great idea. Needs to be done by next year. Future expansions should be deck on east side anyway, so this would block nothing. Inside section with tv's , lounge seating standup tables, patio area for milling around, and then go down the hill about 10 rows with non reserved seating. You can buy a ticket just for this area, but any smu season ticket or smu student ticket gets you in this area if you want to "visit".

Or you could make the entire deal accessible with a ten dollar donation to SMU, for anyone in the stadium. Just want to figure out how to keep opposing fans from taking it over.

We want to attract the non-affiliated fan at least in the patio area. The College Football fan who may want to watch Texas/OU or Alabama/A&M while we are playing at same time

I proposed doing the same thing but in the other endzone, and everyone bashed me. You hypocrites! Take out those 4 or 5 sections out of the top half of the north endzone (no one sits there anyways) and make it a big party zone with a covered awning, full bar, big screen TVs showing other games, etc.

Leave the south endzone as is. It's a cool spot for kids rolling down the hill, food trucks, etc.

I agree with Stallion, more the merrier. Now FCD does have a rule that only FCD fans are allowed down on the Stadium level. If it is semi-gated maybe that is possible. I like the idea of student tickets, season tickets get in free, then you charge $10 for others but they can't wear opposing team colors. Might be a little too much trouble but something to think about.

Added benefit is that the south end zone no longer looks like an elementary school playground.

I agree with East Coast Mustang. Build it into the currently underused sections and leave the grass as is.

Not a bad idea to convert the north endzone. Solves a couple of issues, one losing the grass for the kids, need to build another big score board and could address the fact the seats sit empty most of the time.

I've always liked your idea.

I want to get more students to the game and engaged in it. Build levels of decks on the hill behind the goalpost. Maybe bleachers next to that for the bands. Create a noisy environment that hopefully the students take pride in. It would look like a corral. A patio bar is dangerous because it would disengage more fans from the game that we can't afford to lose. A beer/wine tent with a couple TV's that play before game and at half wouldn't conflict. I'm happy taking my beer and wine back to my seats.

I mean the marlins new stadium has a club in it behind the bullpen, so I like the idea.
