I know it has been argued that dropping ticket prices would not attract more fans, but I call BS. I would definitely go to more Rice and UH football games if I could get a ticket for $5, just saying.

we've beaten this one to death on many occasions. although not always the case, as of now our standard are no different than any other school that we compete with. Any coach that says differently is just trying to cover for their recruiting deficiencies.

I was once told that a ticket must sell for $10 or more to be counted in the official attendance numbers. I think it is a NCAA rule.

Knowing the NCAA that could be believable.
But business is business. Discount the prices & get the 'customers' in there & build a fan base. Screw the silly rules because at the end of the day it's how many fans are there - not stupid NCAA accounting rules.
But unless we have a quality product it's all academic. Win big & the prospects will be turned into 'customers' but they'll come at reasonable ticket prices.

We gave away free tickets to all military and first responders this weekend. Did not see a massive flow into the stadium. Baylor and Tech played in our backyard and set a record for their game attendance and I would wager they did not discount tickets.

I wasn't there because I broke my foot, otherwise I would've gone. I will be at the UCF game.
And we will continue to talk "crock" until you shed the same type of ignorance you've once again demonstrated in this thread. You should try reading the boards for a couple weeks and not posting, therefore you can be a little more educated when you do weigh in.

It's easier to turn around a basketball program with just 1 great recruit.
This is not true in the AAC. 1 great recruit will get you middle of the road status because everyone is getting highly regarded players. Hoops needs several good players to really contend. That is a myth perpetuated to defend themselves. Also as Stallion said we have not lost any more players than any other school due to academics. Also Frazier had a very shaky academic situation and he was admitted into SMU.

I was busy grilling and boiling seafood with a couple other PF users on the blvd. Sorry that I did not feel the need to neglect friends and fun to come on here for a p!ss!ng match.
Went to the game as well... didn't see you though.

I don't blame you. You are excused.

That's true. I just mentioned some of the things I heard.

The only recruits that SMU has rejected have NEVER played a down of D1 football- and I can name them all. This is no longer a valid excuse.
If you had said that academic support for FB players was lacking, I might have actually listened. But the fact is we are recruiting on a level playing field with just about any program.
The lack of fan support I cannot argue with - and I'm sure that does affect recruiting in a very negative way.
Lack of support from the faculty and staff towards our Football program.

Lack of support from the faculty and staff toward any program is no longer an excuse. Cedar Hill coach said that he had not seen June in years. That is more of the issue.
