because we are not as strong at LB as we have been the last two years. We have a great one and then a big drop off. if you are going to run the 3-4, you need to be loaded at LB and we are not. That leaves too much pressure on D backs.
also - i think our O line has improved also, except i guess against a team as poor as Connecticut i expected Gilbert to have more time than he had. So i am concerned we took a step back.
Hope Joseph is ok - we need his reliability in that slot.

if we see a coaching change next year, we just might see that 4-3 defense with Wright, Reed, Hollie and Riley-Ayers as tackles and Wood, Barnes, Nabushoshi and Minor on the ends. Minor might even be a guy who could move inside but we'd be pretty thin at the DL positions
as for the running game, a new coaching staff might continue running a spread offense but might have some 2 back sets in the red zone, with either Line or Wimbley as the lead blocker for Nlemchi of Shead. I bet the guys on the OL would like to put a hand on the ground once in a while

thats the thing that is a bit frustrating. We don't need an all new offense - it is just baffling to me that June, whose strength is supposed to be X/O, doesn't want to put in pro sets when we are in 3rd and 1 situations and/or in the red zone. even if he uses it to decoy - it would be smart to do that. Most spread offenses use many more sets than we have and run many variations of passes to RB's and TE's. it is just bizarre - kind of like the trot of shame we finally got rid of.

More Nlemchi, more Gaines, more Minor.
If Nlemchi had more opportunities, I think he could give us a more consistent run game. Line will get better - his brother did, but every time Nlemchi gets more the 1 or 2 runs he does some thing exciting.
It would also give defenses a little something else to think about - like what McNeal give us. I don't remember McNeal being a stand out blocker, but he exploited how defenses reacted to our passing game.

Now that Gaines is stepping up, why have we not created a goalie package. Prescott line as the FB leading for KC.
Say what you want about his running ability, but Line, P. is a tough kid. I think he could be effective as a FB in the eye at the goal line.

I think Line is best suited to be an up the middle type running back, but the OL is not able to create the holes necessary for him to run through. Nlemchi has the speed necessary to run the end around plays which is a good thing, but I'm not sure he could bull his way through going up the middle. We need both types of runners so we are lucky to have both of them, but the OL needs to do a better job creating some holes for Line.
