Hmm. Ok. All I remember is that McDermott beat TCU and then Pitt in our bowl game. He engineered the best team / year we have had under JJ (I know he went through a stretch where he was off, but I thought that was because he was injured). Either way, in hindsight, I have positive associations with the guy's play and I don't know enough about the other Garrett to compare their arms.

For the record, I'm ok with what McDermott did here.

Since we lost Tyler Harris, a 4-star recruit, to UCF... let's just say I'm un-easy.

Additionally, if we recall, GG had a wicked amount of interceptions last year. I'm guessing it was because he, and the receivers, were unable to work in sync to execute plays. Probably, one of the many reasons they worked so hard together in the off-season; of which, we're seeing the results of that now.

I'm wondering if this will plague us again; particularly whom ever takes over for GG in the UH game, possibly UCF, and certainly next year.

Don't forget that Neal has been on the team at least as long as GG. Of course, not getting as many snaps.

Ugh hopefully nothing like McDermott!

Fair enough, but that also could mean he doesn't have the same relationship with the players as GG does. It seems a great part of the JJ's scheme, is for the receivers and QB to be "on the same page". I suspect that only occurs after substantial practice/playing with each other.

Who has a crap arm? I've never seen the other Garrett throw, I just meant his demeanor and what I've read on practice reports. Frankly, I don't think any of these other guys are probably any good. We've been absolutely spoiled by GG this year (and the system installed by Mumme). We'll go back to offensive mediocrity again next year most likely. I, for once, have been absolutely giddy with the numbers GG has been putting up. It's been an historic year on that front.
i was referring to McDermott, not Garrett K.

from the reports, Garrett K. has a cannon.

He did put up two TD in the second half, looked ok once he settled down. Don't know if the inexperience will be enough to get a win in H-town though. With our history against Coog High, I'm nervous about this possibility. Regardless, I will be in the stands cheering for the Stangs in Houston! Catching the Mustangs on Friday afternoon, then the Houston ballet Nutcracker for Saturday, then come back home (that's the deal I made with the wife in order to drive down to Houston). Should be a good weekend.

Coaches will have to develop a game plan around Burcham. Short passes and I am sure more running. He does not have the same arm strength that GG does on that long out. That is NFL strength. But most QBs in the nation are not NFL arm QBs so a plan can be put together to suit him in the offense. He will get reps all week and hopefully will settle down quickly and preform well. I think Mumme will be the most valuable "player" this week.

Haha! I'll buy that man as many beers as he wants if I ever see him at a bar but man was his release ugly.

I'm confused - national media sources seem to think it's a sprained knee but most people on here are talking about strained vs. torn mcl... Can someone clarify?
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.co ... -a-sprain/

Well a sprain does involve stretching and tearing of ligament fibers so you could say both arguments are correct

Hey, be nice. I know something, I just don't remember what it is.
