For those schools to have any interest in playing us we need to prove we can beat the other guys consistently. Do you really think any of them look at us as much more than a "junior college"?

Don't worry, A&M is probably going to buy-out of our game and we'll have to replace them with a 1-AA school so we can go 2-2.

aTm is not going to buyout and will not let us weasel out of the game. We tried to get out of it last year and they forced us to play it.

Of course they did because it was a home game which makes them millions of dollars. They're already playing Arkansas in Arlington the week before we're scheduled to play them, so playing in DFW two weeks in a row would be silly. All they'd have to do is send us a check for $500,000 at most or whatever the buyout is in the contract, and we have no choice but to accept it. They gain absolutely nothing by playing us here; not a penny and certainly nothing in strength of schedule. Once they ditch us from their schedule they can add another home game which adds several million to their revenue.

SMU is like another home game to them. The game will be played. It will not be changed no matter how we try to punk out of it.

It's like another home game.....except they get none of the revenue. I don't know if they'll sign up for that again when they're already playing here the week before to appease the DFW Aggies.

Yes, why would they play in Dallas two weeks in a row? And once where they get little revenue and only about 15k fans tops.

OT: we should definitely call our little hill the Grassy Knoll. Or the Mustang Mound.

I like the schedule 'as is'. Whats more, I don't think we are that far from becoming competitive with the next level of schools. I'm hoping Neal Burchman plays well against Houston. That would make me feel even more positive. As for winning, SMU needs to start beating current conference teams by comfortable margins on a consistent bases - and become more competitive against B12 teams.

In addition, I believe this coming class of recruits is much better than the experts are projecting. I haven't seen them play...However, we are getting some tall linemen, tall receivers and athletic qbs. We have a group coming from a winning hs (Lamar). I think this class is thin on defensive recruits. However, SMU is going to get a tall de and tall safety...also some speed. Speed is the big difference maker for me.

Didn't A&M already say openly they tried to get out of it due to the 2 weeks in a row in Dallas and they have not been able to find any tam with whom to swap out? Sounded to me like they are going to have to do it whether they want to or not. or whether we want to or not.

College coaches have seen them play (they're experts too) and the offers (especially from BCS schools) have been few and far between.
