have to agree. getting a good up and coming OC is more likely and possibly even a better solution.

Chad Morris has been my choice for years. He's got Texas connections and runs an offense that is exciting (wasn't that JJ's plan to get more butts in seats at Ford...to run an exciting offense?) and maybe he would put together a staff that could sell SMU. The next staff should be able to point to SMU's basketball success to show that IT CAN BE DONE...even at SMU

People need to realize Chads next move is big boy table, not us

I agree but my comments are in response to that "everyone has their price" comment...and Texas doesn't have enough money to buy Saban, either

We can give it one good try. And there are other good guys on the way up.

I still think the BU OC is a good choice.

Although don't forget Phil himself said everyone told him it's a sh*t job and a career-ender, and he took it anyway, figuring he would prove them wrong. And the job now is better than the job was in 2002.

I don't recall the total situation with PB. IMO he had a good chance to win here and did not. I feel he is a good defensive coach but not a good HC. Plus I believe some of the restrictions he had to work under are now removed.
this should be a much better opportunity than it was when PB was here.

Assistant route>>>> Chad Morris (Clemson OC), Phillip Montgomery (Baylor OC). . . Head Coach route>>> Pete Lembo (Ball St HC), Willie Fritz (Sam Houston HC) Jeff Quinn (Buffalo HC), Ed Orgeron (if SC doesn't make him the permanent HC)
2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST

If USC is stupid enough to not make him an offer, then I'd be down for that.

Re: Realistically - who is our next head coach?
Here is the difficult discussion:
- Route 1 - pay a big name huge bucks. If we do that, can we afford to pay a big-time assistant staff? If you don't bring in quality assistants, the head coach doesn't matter as much. The top notch recruiting assistants in bball are just as important as Brown, don't forget that. And there are more to pay in football.
- Route 2 - hire a lesser known head coach, but bring in good assistants. Is that coach going to have the clout to win the admissions battles?
Which way do you go?

As Stallion has said in the past and even gave proof that admissions is no longer an issue.
