Channel 8 just said 26 degrees at 11am on Saturday and won't get above freezing until possibly late that afternoon.

Just got an email that they're not moving the HP game to Thursday. Still Friday.

I'm looking forward to the UCF game. Agreed that it's football weather! Forrest would know

I'm going to the football game with a buddy, while my wife is heading to the BB game with her sister, slackers! I'm wearing a speedo and goggles to the football game, well maybe not! Actually layers upon layers of whatever that will keep me warm.

I had never heard of it before, but my niece in Fort Worth described what is about to paste the Southwest as a McFarland Signature Weather Pattern. Good Luck to all of you under that cold air mass.

Maybe the weather will affect Knights more than Mustangs.

Go Ponies!

From Pete Delkus, WFAA:
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse ...

A full-blown McFarland Signature is trying to develop across the United States. This is a flow pattern which looks like a backwards "S" in the upper-level winds which effectively dislodges large areas of arctic air and sends them hurtling down into Texas.

This will cause an extended cold snap which will have us below freezing for much (but not all) of the time from Thursday night through Tuesday of next week.

Sleet and freezing rain will be widespread across north Texas Thursday night into Friday morning. Then we catch a break before it all starts up again on Saturday afternoon into Sunday with another round of ice.

We are getting close to being able to call for specific ice accumulations, but it may be a moot point since a little bit of ice goes a long way, and we will likely pick up more than just a "little" right through the weekend.

This continues to look like a serious event for north Texas and the surrounding region. Take advantage of the temperatures in the 70s on Wednesday to prepare ...it is going to be a L-O-N-G time before we see warmth like this again. -sm

When does UCF fly in for the game? Hopefully DFW closes 3-4 hours earlier

They'll fly in to Love, which maybe has less equipment than DFW.
