Just saw an email response by Gosselin where he put down our facilities. especially the weight room. Did June and his agent give him talking points?

I'm sure June shopped his resume around and was shocked that Texas didn't want him to replace Mack Brown. I dunno... Maybe if he realizes that his options are to turn SMU around or take a job in the Sun Belt-USA he'll actually start recruiting and doing his job...

I would much prefer that he leave. And I have met him and think he is an interesting person- just not as our future coach.

Well looking at the ASU situation the media getting the information out did have an effect on the reaction of the fanbase. So yes the media can be a tool that can have an effect one way or the other especially if you look at that situation..
But I don't think Lee Steinberg is going to be on the DFW sports radio programs promoting his client before a deal is done this time

Is Lee Steinberg even in business anymore?

And he doesn't have other options!! I really think that's the key.

June beats nearly every team where he has the superior talent...apparently that's the problem he has at SMU. At Texas, he'll have the best talent...so they can expect a national championship every other year.

Which is laughable. Outside of a handful of programs in the SEC, SMU's facilities are more than good enough. Ford is small, but it is nicer than most SEC stadiums.
Florida (outside of this season) does just fine without an indoor practice facility.
Georgia doesn't have an indoor practice facility.
Unless you're in the Pacific Northwest, northeast, or far north an indoor practice facility is more about recruiting than actual use... and since June and his staff don't recruit, that doesn't matter.
Big weight rooms? Also for recruiting... a 10,000 sqft weight room is just as functional as a 30,000 sqft one unless you're really trying to have 200 people lifting at once (and college strength coaches schedule the teams in groups, so that never matters).
Probably the only thing SMU is really lacking is a true "training table" for athletic nutrition. To the best of my knowledge, SMU doesn't have a dining room that serves nothing but athletic oriented foods. Of course, with NCAA rules on such things, it's not as big a deal as it used to be - nutrition is important, but you can only pay for one meal a day anyway.
If SMU were in the SEC or Big XII the facilities excuse might hold water... in CUSA and the AAC, using facilities as an excuse is laughable.
