8-5 is mediocre, when's the last time you heard someone brag about an 8-5 season

Thanks for the transcript Webmaster.
So he didn't say anything about leverage, the announcer said it.

I haven't seen anything from him in the last couple of years except him crapping on us whenever he can---doesn't recruit, doesn't like Peruna, would rather be other places.......he needs to leave and not let the door hit him in his grass skirt on the way out!!
Soccermom said what I meant to say in a lot less words and a lot more colorfully. Agree 100%. It seems he has gone out of his way to alienate SMU fans like most of us here. Wish it wasn't so.

If Planostang would quit ducking and covering he might end up seeing the facts every now and then.
OK, one more time.
The last time SMU had 2 8 win seasons in 3 years without buying players was just before your
time being coached by Hayden Fry

But it sounds like Jones initiated the contract discussion which is not appropriate.

I don't care what they sound like in interviews. They weren't hired to be spokesmodels. The football program is in much better shape than it was before Jones arrived, and the basketball program is in much better shape than it was before Brown arrived, and for that, I'm thankful. Neither program where I'd like it to be, but being a fan is a lot more fun now than it was 10 years ago.
Why wouldn't it be appropriate to initiate contract discussions? Never mind whether he should be back -- if he thinks he wants to stay, he needs to have a contract so he and his staff can tell recruits' parents that the staff will be there. Standard operating procedure, isn't it?

Negotiating a contract in the media is wrong.

Planostang: I played for Hayden Fry so he was not before my time. Still having trouble with facts I see.

The Jones supporters miss the point. Yes we got to 8-5, which is great, but that is where JJ peaked. It is going down hill. Unless all of those 4 star transfers that he eluded to start showing up, or we manage to get 8 of the bottom 10 teams scheduled, we will not see 8 wins again with JJ.

Plus even 10-3 is mediocre when you are only beating teams ranked in the bottom 100.

None of my posts on this thread are meant to indicate whether or not Jones should remain as coach. My whole intent is to state that a contract should be negotiated between parties involved and not in the media.

Fool me once -shame on you (Jones being committed after ASU)
fool me twice-shame on me (believing he will change even with ipf)
Hope I can get this saying out of my head
