We actually played a fairly good game considering who we were playing and we had some opportunities to win it. Friends of mine who are not SMU alums and watched the game on TV commented that they thought we played a good game. Our defense played well and helped keep the game close. NB getting hurt pretty well sealed our fate.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

We can be a power run team when we want to, even with back up RBs? Maybe?

No mention Beau Barnes. I thought he played very well as did others on defense. We'll never know, but I truly believe we would have won the game with Gilbert and almost did it with NB. Congrats seniors, for your tough work.

Stephon Sanders had one of his best games as a Mustang and will return next year.

I liked the way Burcham played. Did he set the world on fire? No, but it is going to be a great building block for development.

I like the way Prescott Line played. He ran hard and squared his shoulders. For all of his detractors. How fast we forget what a "catastrophe" is was when we were losing Shawnbrey after the Hawaii Bowl. All of our comments were about how we were going to be stuck with this converted LB who still looked like a FB. He seemed to do OK. Prescott is further ahead compared to Zach at the same stage.

Pope. The Pontiff played his heart out both way. Really going to miss him. I wish him a world of success going forward.

Loved how the kids competed. Tough conditions and tough opponent, and they fought to the end.

Much love to the people that braved the elements and got there.

[quote="RGV Pony"]Cold hot chocolate = silver lining?[/quote

Cold hot chocolate equals shedding light on the fact that the hot chocolate shouldn't be noted as a silver lining as it was cold....

Wasn't noting a silver lining was commenting on the fact that it wasn't

So you're are saying next year Line will be starting in front of KC and Traylon getting more time than either one of them?

I think he was just saying that he liked the way line played and that he thinks he thinks he is ahead of where his brother was at this time. I did not see anything about who he thinks will be starting next year or those other players you mentioned in his post.

If he is further ahead than Zach was and Zach started getting most of the carries his sophomore year, couldn't that be implied?

Not if he thought KC and Traylon > younger Line at this point > elder line at the same point. Which is a lot of mental math for pure speculation.

Burcham was vastly improved over the previous week. They talked on the radio about how much improvement is often seen between Game 1 and Game 2. Sure looked that way for Burcham.

The defensive line might have had its best game of the year.

As someone above mentioned, Stephon Sanders was terrific.

Kevin Pope was awesome.

The receivers caught the ball pretty well. We're going to miss Holman and Johnson (among others).

I liked how Burcham learned from his mistakes in the Houston game and looked for the easy pass and took it if available before going deep.

I really liked how aggressive Taylor was on the punt returns in bad weather to keep the ball from bouncing around and help field position. Taylor and Richardson in the return game could be interesting; remember - Richardson was slated for kickoff return last year before the injury.
