uoh is a good team and will be very dangerous in the tournament.
Meh.

That's what I see happening. And they ARE a dangerous team. But I'd rather see them than any of the more experienced top 5. Our best case conference scenario right now is to win out and hope we can climb into a two seed.

the rankings are rather
inelastic now.
it depends on WHO those teams (17, 20, 21, 22) lost to. Ex: if 17 lost to 6, they won't drop. If they lost to unRanked, then yes. Conversely, SMU beating a hapless UCF doesn't inspire great movement either, albeit a win.
Collectively, the assertion that with 4 teams above losing and us winning is
likely to jump us a spot or two, but not 4 spots.
There also could be a lower ranked team beat a higher one and jump us as well. Ex: UR (26) UConn beats (11) Cincy. Although, that specific example would probably bump us as well considering our recent win (and sweep) of Uconn.

I'm just happy we escaped the Houston cemetery. That place is so quiet it's intimidating. Uconn and Memphis lost there, Cincy only won by 2 there.

17, 20, 21, and 22 all lost to unranked teams.

St Louis is going to drop like a rock, especially if they lose to VCU

Last night all of those teams lost to pretty bad teams, with the one exception of (17) Kentucky losing at home to Arkansas. If we win on Saturday we should pass all except maybe Kentucky

Provided we win Saturday and don't look shaky doing it I think we find ourselves around 19-20. The point about the in-elasticity of the rankings at this point is valid. If you are unranked and happen to upset a top ten team at this point it's viewed more as an upset and less as validation for a ranking. If you are in the bottom half of the top 25 and beat a top-half team you are going to move up a few and they are going to move down a few but you are not going to swap places unless you are only 2-3 spots apart to begin with.
Even if we happen to win out I don't see us as ranked higher than Lousiville and Cincy come Conference tourney time unless one of them totally [deleted] the bed.
Rankings are sweet but right now it's only about wins!

It's still wide open folks. Cincy has 2 lose-able games and Louisville has 3. We win out and we can still end up first, but yes, most likely 3 or 2 spot.

We win out, Memphis beats Louisville at home and cincy on the road, and uconn beats cincy at home and we are first. That is a lot that has to go right, but not unthinkable.

Rankings matter as well because it helps in tournament seeding so it is more than just something sweet. But we have to win and get help from others to move up in seedings.

Huge difference between 6 seed in tourney and 7. Need to win Louisville and at two conference tourney games.
