He may be telling the schools he is talking to to sell him on why he should not go to SMU. Or maybe it would be "buy him" on why he should not go to SMU.

Seriously? If this is true then we do not want him. You do not go to a ton of games during an awesome rebuilding year and come out saying "ehh, maybe not". Not with the atmosphere and future hype our program has.

Based on some stuff that I read, looking at this point SMU is not in this. Now it's May so a lot can happen over the summer but let's hope SMU is choosing to distance itself.

What are the main reasons? Seriously asking, no sarcasm. I have heard concerns over the shape he is in...

Yep he's a tubby. And theres word the posse scene is over the top ridiculous. As soon as that started to get out - right or wrong but those I know usually don't blow smoke - I was out.
I'll also go grassy knoll here and suggest I find it odd that a thumb injury sidelines you for the entire summer. Ok if it's a really bad one with severe ligament tears or a tendon then I can give the benefit of the doubt. That said shouldnt he be doing other things than running off to Virginia for a tournament where he can't even play in? Hmmm

Plus a thumb ligament will not prevent certain cardiovascular activities...

Seriously? UNLV has been cleaning up.

For some reason, I've had the feeling that SMU/Elijah Thomas have cooled on each other the past month or so. . . Part of the reason Elijah may be looking out of state. He was friends with that Wilmer-Hutchins player, who was found shot to death in the field by that Madison basketball player. I could understand wanting to get away. . . But, that's just speculation on my part.

FWIW, I tore a tendon in my left ring finger in high school playing football and after it was repaired, my doctor described it as "a piece of spaghetti held together with peanut butter". I went back to playing too soon and consequently it's never been the same. At the bottom where to scar tissue collected, it's almost twice as thick as my right one. playing guitar is a pain in the [deleted]. I don't blame the kid for not wanting his hand messed up forever. It sucks. I can't even make a full fist because my finger sticks out.....

I know that smart basketball people have praised him and rated him as a 5 star recruit.
I rarely write anything to knock a player, but I will in this case. I have only see him play
a couple of times in the state tournament last year and I must say I was not impressed.
He seemed awkward, slow, and out of condition. He didn't show lot of basketball smarts.
Had two things going for him because as a high school player he was tall and he had some
weight to him - which makes you a rough and tumble type player because you are bigger than
the other boys. He rebounded occasionally and with his height he got some junk baskets
around rim, but I didn't see any great post moves, or athleticism.
So Elijah, I'm hoping you come to SMU and prove me wrong. I dare you.

Thomas should not go anywhere to prove anybody wrong. He should go where he feels most comfortable and if it is not SMU so be it. We'll be fine.

For the number 11 player or whatever, his list of schools he is currently talking to is not super impressive.
My read on that is that bigger schools have backed off waiting to see what happens with the injury. Or there are other concerns. But that is just a quick read.
