Rumor Alert: SMU @ Texas

It seems like our road slate is already serious enough. Why would we agree to another road game at this point?
I'm all for playing Texas, but can we at least play them at Moody first then go to Austin next year?

Our OOC scheduling should be focused on building SMU as a national brand- IU, Michigan, and Gonzaga are all great ways to do this. Scheduling Texas does little for us IMO

I respectfully disagree. Playing Texas (and beating them) would put us on the state map as being serious players. Beating them would help us in recruiting and it would earn us some serious respect. Plus the media would be all over it

I think we're already serious players on the state map.

I'd rather play teams from other power conferences that might just invite SMU one day if our football steps up and our basketball keeps it up. I'd like to see some more SEC and Pac-12 schools personally.

I am jumping for joy. UT is going to be much improved this year and should be a great challenge. We should back the place.

Because you made it sound like SMU was going to play @ Texas only for a $$$ payday. And, not a home-and-home series with Texas. If it's a home-and-home, then I'm stoked. If it's just a $$$ game to play at Texas. . . Eff it , not interested!

1) Getting paid to beat them is always fun.
2) Proving that we can win games in a major sports at B12 competition would be valuable should conference choas return.

BTW - I think a home and AAC schedule is more likely than a true Home/Home. Year 1 - we play in the Superdrum. Year 2 - they play us at the AAC during the holidays. Given the home court advantage that Moody offers, teams like UT (who would want their local fans to have a chance to watch) aren't going to agree to play in Moody.

Bring it on. Make it even tougher than it is...beating our OOC slate leaves no doubt to the selection committee that we are definitely in the dance and deserve a top seed.

How is playing a road game scheduled as part of a home and home kissing someone's [deleted]? You are going to have to explain that one for me.

Who said anything about a home and home? I didn't. If you're talking specifically about my comment regarding Baylor, when was the last time we played them HERE? Based on my count, including this coming season, we would have played them twice at THEIR home.

Well since the 2014-16 games are in the future and you used the verb was (past tense) the most reasonable way to read your post is that you were talking about when the series was scheduled. I am not a grammar nazi but if using the wrong verb tense changes the meaning of the post you should not be surprised if someone does not understand what you meant.
