Good luck trying to figure out where this kid ends up. Prior to committing to Texas, Hammad had verbally committed to Oklahoma, and then Baylor.

Would certainly add some size to our O-Line. 6'5" & 320 in high school! Bring him on!

Correction: b12 transfer rules state that you must sit 1 yr. if you transfer in conference. I know that from experience.
Actually, we're both wrong. The Big 12 rules stipulate that the transfers must sit out one year but they also forfeit a year of eligibility.

not without a waiver-see TexasTech QB transferring to OU. Note the word "also" and "and"so it works out to 2 years of eligibility. That's why SMU and UH really take advantage of this rule. TCU used to but now can't

Big 12 Conference Intra-Conference Transfer Rules [CR 6.3]:
ï‚· Intra-Conference Transfers - If a student-athlete is required to complete an academic year in residence, per NCAA rules, that student-athlete shall ALSO forfeit one season of competition in that sport.
├»ΓÇÜ┬╖ 4-2-4 Intra-Conference Transfer: SA must complete an academic year in residence before being eligible to compete AND shall forfeit one season of competition unless, in sports other than football and basketball, the director of athletics of the other Big 12 institution consents in writing to the student-athlete’s enrollment at Texas Tech.
├»ΓÇÜ┬╖ Please note, all SA’s wishing to transfer from Texas Tech are required to complete a Big 12 transfer form.

still disagree- my grandaughter x-ferred from one b12- to another. She started as a frosh. Transferred at the start of her soph year and had to sit that yr. out. She is now playing as a jr. and only lost one yr. of eligibility. the school she transferred from did not give her any type of release. i would think that pretty well explains their rules, unless the new school is letting her play illegally, in which case I suspect they would forfeit all of their games.

You have 5 years to play 4. Hasn't she lost that. Does not sound as if she could get a 5th year.

Ask her coach -- not her -- about that again and cite what I referred to and what Stallion copied and pasted from the Big 12 rule book. Then, I think you'll get your answer.

Yep- you are correct. I was wrong as I didn't consider a 5th year. IMO for her it doesn't matter as she will graduate in 4. I would have preferred that she go to a non-b12 school but wasn't my decision.
Didn't affect her as she was a unanimous pre-conference selection even after not playing the prior year.

Also, revenue sports are more severe on transfer rules so there is that aspect too.

That incorrect.

And just means both: you have to wait a year and lose a year.

Baker played last year.

Originally, he couldn't take a scholarship this year, but could the following year.

The penalty was he had to sit out a year, and pay for his attendance at ou. He could play the next year.

If ou had a scholarship to give they weren't allowed. That's all

Tech rescinded the stop but ou now may not have one to give.
