We can't even talk to 99% of the prospective candidate anyway until December-unless you know of an identified Coach in the wings-in that case proceed
Its not going to have an affect on recruiting unless we don't get a new coach by early December
Do you really want to end up with Mason as Head Coach because he won the job by beating a few teams down the stretch. I don't

I don't want to retain anyone on this staff but I do want to send a message to the area football community (fans, coaches, recruits) that we don't accept getting blown out by NT, freaking NT, and the emotionless effort. Make Mason the interim HC and at the end of the year say "thank you" and move on. Start a search for the next HC now. Get the right people to identify candidates and get a plan in place. Sell the CofC on the plan and as soon as the season ends, act and act quickly. We have to quit acting like a victim and become a bulldog. I have serious doubt our admin is capable of that, but I can hope.

I agree

I think after starting 0-6 would be a much better time to fire him. Firing him after game 2 would look bad. Firing him after the Aggie and tcu losses would not be much better. Wait until ECu and Cinci also kill us, and you are halfway through the season.

I don't know how it could be any more expensive to fire him now than fire him at the end of the season. Pay him his damn money. But get rid of him now before more damage is done to all concerned. And yes, I'm all for Mason to step up and be interim HC until the end of the year. Then clean house. At least Mason seems to care.

I'm not a lawyer but still don't understand how we didn't have the ability to fire him without having to pay him given I would have assumed he breached his contract by i) accepting an offer from another program (not sure if it was only verbal) and ii) recruiting on behalf of ASU while under contract for us.

It can't be possible that deals are structured so unilaterally that JJ just has blanket ability to do whatever he wants with no consequences to being fired and still receive his full severance payments, or is it??

I want him gone now because i will not attend another JJ coached football game. I think if you make a move now you might win back some fans who are there for the kids. Make Mason the interim and tell him that he has an equal shot when the job opens. He wants to be a HC so he will not be throwing in the towel. And then when the job opens tell Mason to get lost because he has been tainted by Juney.

Is it fair for me to spend money on tickets to go watch us get our ^$% drilled?

I suppose if someone lied and convinced you SMU was going to beat A&M, and you bought a ticket, that would be the same.
