I am not saying he is my first choice, although one must remember that he comes from the Stoop's branch of the coaching tree. There have been some pretty decent coaches come out of that staff at OU, Sumlin included. If by some miracle he was offered, and took the job, I would hope he would bring some of the style/culture of the OU program (yes I know many of you hate OU, but they are a powerhouse) to the hilltop. He is a very smart coach, would obviously be a risk, but he might end up being like Sumlin when he does get the HC nod.

We were a powerhouse.
And it is EASY to recruit kids to OU.

I doubt it is so "easy" when many of the kids they are after
are also being offered by Oregon, Florida State, A&M, Alabama, Baylor,
LSU, Stanford, Georgia, Ohio State, etc....

OU is actually getting UT's leftover for the most part.

This topic has been in print and on sports radio in OKC. The local fans think it would be a mistake for him to even consider SMU. The talk is the same, "SMU is a suicide job" most believe ha should wait for a P5 job. It's a shame perceptions are so hard to change.
