Let's see where we are in three years. We will know the direction the program is heading by then. I think will be just fine.

It almost read like a Repetitive Question Guy interview.

I just don't see what Hashimoto is trying to accomplish. What does he think RGT is going to say?

Only thing worse than this interview is the juvenile and idiotic responses some have decided to post in this thread.

Does Hashimoto seem like an idiot who doesn't get it? Yes...but outside of hiring Jones (with boosters money) what publicly has he done to show his determination to "do everything necessary to to succeed" at SMU?

Hashimoto has proven by his writing that he is either ignorant or has an axe to grind with the school.

Let's leave it at that and keep the ignorance on par with keeping June post ASU to ourselves.

It wasn't ignorant, it was economic.

And hashimoto does appear to have an axe to grind since he has asked the same question a million times and also written about it. He just doesn't want to accept the answer.

We are committed. We have proven it. June did not.

I now live in the LA area again. I was listening to KROQ, a popular radio station on the way home from work yesterday. The shock came from an ad for tcu. I was blown away. I also see quite a bit of purple around too. (Makes me ill.)

SMU needs to wake up.

Go Ponies!

Don't worry Well Traveled Pony, as you can see from other posters (as opposed to what we see with our eyes), we are committed and have proven our commitment.

Oh, and Turner is committed too.

Maybe, just maybe, we should be committed for believing anything that comes out of the program and school until we see results. Some of that old fashioned State of Texas shock therapy might do us some good.

DING DING DING

Many good student believe that a "college experience" includes things like college football and basketball.

If I had know that we would get the DP while I was there, I would have gone to TAMU or USC.

Sadly, too I might have gone elsewhere. Most of my good friends went to USC or UCLA. I remain a proud Mustang. It is tough though.

Go Ponies!

This is my final post on this site.

Can't you people read that RGT has no interest in competing nationally in athletics? It's too much of a burden to manage success. He never once mentions anything more than being competitive in the AAC.

He has the WORST football program in America right now -- and he did it to himself, systematically living in denial, overpaying a deadbeat coach, accepting 6-win bowl teams as the standard.

Frankly, if TCU wasn't kicking our collective asses in all aspects of football, it wouldn't be so bad.

If it's OK with him that we are who we are, then fine. Don't pretend. Any potential high-level athlete and his family will read this and never consider attending SMU. Same goes for any smart football coach, who knows that SMU has been a football coaches' graveyard.

Dr. Turner is an amazing man. Smart. Passionate. Connected. He's accomplished an incredible amount in his tenure. He's raised an astounding amount of money and aided SMU's academic rise in unprecedented ways. He just views intercollegiate athletics as "intramurals with scholarships." It is what it is. It's not going to change.

But, as far as supporting that athletic model, count me out. And, being deceitful to those of us who really care about college sports and SMU athletics is not fair. He obviously cares about his legacy, but doesn't care to have athletics included.

Stanford, Notre Dame, TCU, Rice, Georgia Tech, USC, Northwestern, Tulane, Tulsa -- all schools he calls peer schools -- do care and have had success on and off in the modern era. They see it as important. RGT does not. End of story. Today's glorified press release affirms that.

Tally ho!

The ONLY thing keeping SMU from having a competitive football program is JUNE Jones and a fan base that makes it very difficult to recruit and create the revenue necessary to have a strong program. RGT does not coach
