Always a possibility, but if he's hired away after one year that means he's taken a winless team to 8 plus wins and possibly a conference title. We will have plenty of coaches to choose from if he does that.

Morris answered that question during Q&A. He is a man of character, who happens to coach FB, and will build a strong legacy. Until he accomplishs a lot for us, he is not going anywhere.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if SMU figures out a way to keep him. We'll be up for a new contract in 2020, and that's IF we're even in the American.

NC-
I'll take the short ride if that is what happens. A successful short ride, better than 8-4, and better than Hawaii/Compass/Armed Forces bowls would be sufficient.

Agree. Plus wants to be in Texss. He may leave but he really emphasized fit for both him and the university so he won't leave for just any old job that opens up that pays more. It will be for a job that he and his family want.

does anybody know if he still has family in his hometown in Edgewood-looks like its about 60 miles straight east in East Texas between Grand Saline and Wills Point. I actually had to look that one up. I usually know the towns of Texas because I follow recruiting and Texas High School football-but Edgewood? Don't remember an Edgewood making a playoff run

Yes he does. I'm from Lone Oak and we played Edgewood in sports when I was in high school. There are some Morris' around there and I'm sure they're related in some way to Chad.

If Chad performs a miracle in year one and A&M hires him away, I will be thrilled that he left the program in much better shape and feel good about our chances of finding a quality replacement

I wish we could find out the buyout cost, would say a lot about his intentions while here at the school.

If

Next year SMU wins 10 games and the AAC and he bolts for a P5 job with SMU getting his entire salary reimbursed as part of the contract

then good luck at A&M, coach.

Not to get too creepy here, but I seem to remember something about Morris not wanting to uproot his family while his daughter was in HS. I wonder if she will be attending SMU. That could be an incentive to stick around, a la Larry Brown
