There are parts of UR that are beautiful, others that are not as beautiful.

Only campuses I've been to that rival SMU:

1) Vanderbilt
2) Rhodes College (Memphis, TN)
3) Pepperdine
4) Princeton

From what I remember, the area around the Athletics facilities looks like an area around athletics facilities. Everything else was fantastic, beautiful lake in the middle of campus, rolling wooded hills, and red brick Gothic architecture (except for the student center but the student center gets cool points for being built over the lake)

I liked Vandy but I thought SMU was far and away nicer (to each their own). Pepperdine is mind-blowing but mainly due to the campus surroundings rather than the actual campus...tough to compare it with the others

Rhodes is quite nice. I liked UVa quite a bit too. Williams is excellent but the town helps make that.

What's the worst part of SMU? North part of campus with two parking garages within a block? Even that's not bad because these garages are well done. The insides of some of the buildings could stand a refresh, but that will come over time...once other buildings are constructed.

If you haven't already, check out the former Perkins Natatorium chunk of real estate. Open area with sidewalks, mature trees, grass, benches and lighting. Well designed and implemented. Opens this area up -offers some new views. Nice.

Worst part of SMU? Unquestionably Meadows and the dorms/parking lots between it and the theology school.

As we made our way through the Baylor campus last weekend, I was really struck at how amazing SMU is. And Baylor's not bad as far as school campuses go. (The actual campus, not the town that surrounds it).

Agreed. Baylor has a fairly nice campus, but SMU is definitely nicer

SMU has the most beautiful campus in Texas and its really not close. Rice and Baylor are very nice but not of the quality of SMU.

Ugliest is a tie b/w A&M and TCU. Those are truly dreadful looking college campuses.

Meadows is horrible inside and out. Even the layout is poor and confusing. Needs a complete replacement
