Isn't it a violation for a booster to tweet to the players??? While nobody knows us, isn't it playing with fire to have our NFL alums tweet to the players?

SMU can be a test case for NCAA punishment

I think it might actually be a violation but is so far out of control there is no way to enforce...you might be right that the NCAA could be tempted to use SMU as an example of what everyone else should not be doing

Just because they are in the nfl and alumns doesn't mean they are boosters...

Question is their connection to the program. Seems like, outside of coaches, NO ONE can contact recruits via twitter (or any other way, for that matter). Not 100% certain, but retweets may even be covered under this. Might be a good thing to query the compliance guys about...at least the retweet part. We all know that everyone does it and there is no chance they could or should enforce this insanely stupid rule....but we also know that the NCAA loves to use SMU as their whipping boy for rules they choose not to enforce on state schools.

Ok getting punished for this one would be ridiculous and laughable...even for NCAA standards

We will not be penalized, can we stop being such a scared fanbase when it comes to the NCAA? EVERY SCHOOL'S FANBASE TWEETS THEIR RECRUITS. Look at Kyler Murray, Daylon Mack or any of these other recruits' twitters and see how the fans blow up their feeds.

I agree that nothing will happen, but the "everyone does it" excuse has proven to fail in the past.

I met a guy who works for SMU compliance before a basketball game. I asked about supporters sending tweets to recruits and mentioned that other fan bases seem to do it in massive amounts. He said it is a violation (I got the sense it is minor) and that SMU has sent cease and desist letters if they know who the tweeter is. I asked if anyone had ever gotten in trouble for it and I could not really follow the answer except the part where he said we had self reported for it in the past.

Factoid; English's interest in K-state is partly due to fact that his father played for Snyder when he was an assistant at NTSU

FOR THE RECORD, I retweeted something. I didn't send it to anyone except those people who have asked to see the things I am interested in. However, if an athlete looks at "topic SMU" then he could read my "retweet." That is all that has been suggested on Ponyfans to my knowledge and I would be VERY surprised if that was in any way a violation.
