Hit the steak and eggs and the weight room! Maybe he'll put on about 10 pounds before Summer ball. Maybe a redshirt and come in next year a grown [deleted] man (needs about another 30 pounds it seems). But who knows. I love the Cowboys connection of course.

looking at one of the tt boards they point out that he only had 38 tackles as a senior. they didn't offer him even though he is a legacy. keep in mind that that tt fans are the most delusional in college sports.

English a 315lb inside tackle his whole life with superior quickness for his weight. This kid a D end, maybe 240-250, big difference.

I hope this guy works out! In general, I usually like to see guys move outside from HS to college - HS DE becomes and OLB, HS LB becomes a safety because of size. Not a huge fan of taking a HS DE and moving them inside. But I'll trust the coaches.

You've got that completely backward
Safety to LB
OLB to DE
DE to DT
You physically develop size and speed from more athletic positions to "less athletic" positions. This isn't rocket science. How could you watch college football for years and not know that? HINT: There are only 8 highly recruited Defensive Tackles/Nose Guards this year in the entire state of Texas. Pretty much like every year. There are 12 Division 1A programs. How do coaches make the numbers work?

Right. Not sure he has the frame for it. Good luck to him.

That would be weird if he didn't work out. Everybody pumpin iron and he's just like, " i'm not doing that."

Are we really worried that he won't get bigger? I put on loads of weight after I turned 18, because I was skinny as hell as a freshman. Some of that weight was because of the good folks at Snuffer's and a few breweries, but I also didn't spend quite as much time as I assume he will (or any time, to be honest). Considering how big his dad was, there doesn't seem to be any reason to assume he won't bulk up.

I think some people are being short sighted and assuming he will play right away and not take a red shirt year to grow and adjust. He is undersized right now for DT, but I am sure the new strength coach and probably his dad too (given he is a former strength coach) have a plan, if he is really moving to the interior. At least we aren't in the days of taking 200lb players and hoping they grow.

I don't recall exactly how heavy J Ball was, but I do remember freshman year that I couldn't believe how thick he was. Legs like two big tree trunks. He was ready for that NT position from day one.
Go Ponies!
