Re: The Mob
For adults and anyone not familiar with the point system let me explain. All you had to do was get 130 points anyway possible. You had 4 football games worth 30 points each and about 10 soccer/volleyball games at 10 points each. Any combination could get you in the mob.
Now Greeks make excuses that oh we got to drunk or it's to difficult to go. The absolute bullcrap. They just want everything served on a silver platter. Why not be like the other mob members and get drunk and walk to the stadium, checkin and then leave if you want or stay to watch the game.
I agree the mob isnt as good as last year but at the same time, there is no excuse for not being in the mob if you wanted to because it took litte to no effort at all.

That has been the problem, completely outside of the Uconn game where all of moody was turnt from tip (which ruled)
They follow the momentum instead of being on the front edge of it. They quickly pick up the momentum now, I'll give them that for sure. Still, if the team doesn't go on a run there they are a library the rest of the way.
I disagree. When we were down 7 the Mob got into it and it was crazy from then on. I have no problems with them tonight.
Long live Inez Perez!

Re: The Mob
Not to sound totally defensive but our students haven't learned how to cheer for a MBB winner. We won out of nowhere last season and those in the Mob were on fire. Now, the students that get those seats haven't really experienced winning.
My daughter that graduated last year and was yearbook editor didn't attend one MBB as a student. She went when I was able to scrounge mrydels tickets. Now she attends almost all home games (on my tickets in the very cheap seats). She just didn't get SMU winning in MBB as a student and it took her her Sr. year and Dad pushing her to games to learn. Same might be true for most students.
We continue to win, our students will be huge in every game, the whole game cause they will learn from TV in HS to the experience as a Fr. what winning and cheering are all about.

Greeks being busy or lazy doesn't make the mob any less crappy and awkward for most of the year.

Re: The Mob
So, since I attended when our most successful programs were soccer and swimming, I am a bit in the dark as to the MOB requirements et al. If you need to accumulate points to attend basketball games, there really shouldn't be an issue getting those points. How do they determine who gets into the games? Is it first come, first serve with a MOB id? Is there a decoder ring? Do you have to be especially talented with the skin flute? Just confused. We have a pretty small student section compared to what I see at many larger programs. Just seems like it wouldn't be too hard to game the system to get a certain number of points. Maybe there is a way to give out something like a free watch so MOB members can tell the time to show up somewhere near game time. Maybe there is a way to administer electro-shock so MOB members could show emotion and get loud to urge the team on when down, not after they have started to come back and are urging the MOB on. I understand there isn't a culture of winning in MBB and football at SMU and that directly impacts the students...but many of the students came from high schools where they attended football games and basketball games and pep rallies and I bet they didn't have a problem getting involved there. Just curious.

Re: The Mob
Who cares about the Mob tonight. The whole placed rocked the roof off and willed the team to win. Everyone and even the 80yr olds (okay probably late 60's, early 70's) next to me were standing, clapping and cheering with about 6/7 to go.
I thought the crowd noise was way better than UConn...specifically late in the game.

Exactly. I suggest someone ask Dunphy and his players how crappy and quiet the crowd was tonight.
Re: The Mob
how does Elf and Mario always get in the Mob area? Didn't they graduate?
This subject is very tired... hardly anyone must have seen the Moody Morgue just a few years ago. End zone students have been good and the crowd woke up the second half. Center mob just needs to learn the game and get better on cheers. It should come if we continue being good.

Re: The Mob
The fact that anyone is complaining about our students/fans after the last few games is just proof that some people just want to be unhappy.

^exactly Section F. when it came down to it, the atmosphere was awesome tonight, as it has been the past couple of games.
