I recall Turner dragging out his school pick, postponing again and again and it was too much all about himself. He really wanted the limelight. So Texas was it and I agree with most here he would have been better coached and prepared for the NBA with LB. so maybe he is drafted #10 versus #15 because of inferior coaching, that will cost him 1/2 million just the first year times xx years. .

Pony_Law wrote:NBA teams draft primarily on potential not achievement at the moment. Turner is a guy wih huge length that can shoot and run the floor. He will be a lottery pick based on the hope he will turn into a monster. He could have say out this year and probably have been a high lottery pick just based on his high school numbers and physical measurements.

Although he did drag it out-he handled his recruiting about as well as any big time recruit in memory. Stand up kid exploring his options

also see Kevin Garnet, or Davis or Cousins. There are a lot of players that turn into great players and lots of players that bust. Remember Beasley from KSU.

he made the right decision because he may have struggled to get minutes at SMU, although with Kennedy out that 1st semester he would have had an opportunity to show his stuff. Just didn't know that when he signed with Texas

Since he's probably a one and done, he got more playing time at UT. Here he would have been splitting time with Yanick and Markus and Cunningham. He would have learned more playing for LB and been better prepared for the pros.

Texas was fine if he's a one and done. If he doesn't enter the draft this year he would have been better learning under Godfather this season and being the big dog post player next year, surrounding by a great supporting cast.

See: Emmanuel Mudiay, Enes Kanter who both "sat out" the year.

Eddy Curry was actually an above league average big man until 2008.
