Hoop - can you explain why we did so poorly in Dallas this past recruiting year? I was surprised that we got no one we targeted and even more surprised that A&M ran the table with what looks to be a lame duck coach.

There are a few pretty good "Bigs" left. Stephen Zimmerman from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman is 7'0". Gorman has a very good sports program so he's probably well coached. A five star recruited by some of the best BB teams. SMU is not on the list of teams that have offered. There are others left but he is probably the highest rated left.

Also uncommitted are Thon Maker 7'0" five star from Ontario, Diamond Stone 6'10" Milwaukee Wisconsin and Caleb Swanigan 6'8" Fort Wayne IN. I don't think SMU has offered any of these guys either. There are some very good big guys left. However, does LB like any of them? Can they make it through Admissions?

Well, we didn't target about half the kids, so some of the 'misses' people talk about around here weren't that at all. Of the ones we did target, the NCAA investigation didn't help, cause the writing about Ulric was plainly on the wall. Beyond that, we really focused on kids who could play and read this time, which has been a problem when we've recruited DISD and Dallas before.
The only kid of that entire crew that I wanted but we had no chance for was Tyler Davis.

Thanks Hoop.
I support recruiting kids who actually want to take advantage of college - the one and done notwithstanding.
So if we didn't get them because they are academic risks then so be it. Much better to kid kids who can play and have a foundation to be a student then all the drama around keeping them eligible.

I think we have zero shot at him, but I believe Diamond Stone attended the first game at renovated Moody vs. UConn last year

Simeon Carter looks to be the only big that has high interest in SMU. If they miss on him then they will be scrambling for a best of the rest big. I hope they land a couple in the 2016 class.

Any graduate transfers out there as potential targets, since it looks like the family transfer exception is coming to a close? Too bad Mamadou Ndiaye isn't graduating early this year from UC Irvine

After watching film I want the jc kid - for defense and rebounding. But we need to have a monster 2016 class to keep the program momentum going.
