I think our conference has a few boots on its neck - and the boots belong to USF, UCF, UH etc. How bad they suck cost the top teams last year and it cost them this year.

The reason I heard was that it allows committee members to speak freely without fear of fan reaction. If person #1 said "Team A is better than Team B" and/or person #2 said "Team B isn't worthy of consideration", you can bet persons 1 & 2 will be attacked by fans of Team B on social media and other forums indefinitely. Unfortunately, we know some fans would take it too far.

What a bunch of effing babies if that's the rationale. The truth is that they do it this way b/c they have to answer to no one except the P5 money programs that put them in charge.

That would be fine if you had a comittee of neutrals. As it is there is a comittee of interested parties who have an interest in increasing total numbers in their conferences. Transparency would expose the obvious deals the power 5 make with each other to keep non power 5 teams out.

Someone fill me in. I understood we didnt have representation last year because the AAC was new. But why no rep this year? And how and when does this change?

Exactly right.
Also, SMU/American done no favors with early Thursday game after playing late Sunday, while others get another day - or in some cases, two days - of rest.

Committee chair also said that Dayton probably would have been out if UConn had won... guess they really have to protect those undeserving P5 teams like UCLA.
