Some of we 65 year olds actually do have some sense. Like the ability not to make a broad brush statement like that.

sadly - if he doesn't watch it - he will have a heart attack or stroke soon. Man, he does not look good. I enjoy his work, he's pretty good.

Verne sounded giddy as UCLA was coming back on us Thursday.

Actually, Uncle Verne (and his partner Gary during football) chap my hide like no other - that's the Bama coming out in me, I can't help it. He needs to be retired, sent to a retirement facility, and placed in the same room with Dale Hanson. Done.

I like Verne. And he has always been complimentary of SMU.

Call it earlier if you want, but not on game point. I was more upset about the pass anyway - it was like Cannen forgot he has a heii of a shot

Cannen hols the ball and gets fouled. We win.

With 20 seconds left and the ball in the backcourt, they wouldnt necessarily foul there. They could hope for a 10 second violation by guarding Cannen closely. Wish Cannen didn't forget how to pass. Didn't seem like Ryan did anything confusing.

Verne may be one of the better announcing assets SMU has. From his close friendship with Doak, I think he holds SMU in a special place. While any and all of us would have spent the entire ucla-uab game talking about the bad call SMU got, he is a professional and his job is to announce the game in play.

Calling goal tending in that situation is like an umpire calling a base runner out on a pickoff to first base to end a playoff series. You just don't do it

You guys that still like Verne are hanging on to nostalgia. He was great once but is no longer even good.

I think he is still good. Probably does not need to be doing more than one game a day however. I still like him at the Masters.

Anybody who claims winning on the worst call in years then beating a 14 seed means the NCAA committee "got it right" - like Jabba The Hut Verne did - is an NCAA/P5 hack.

(Verne was great in Bowling for Dollars, though!)

We didn't lose because of the call itself. I think we lost more because of the confusion the call caused.

But we shouldn't have lost that game. It was an illfitting end to our great season (that unfortunately lacked any wins over top level teams but was never the less fun to watch). It's a horrible jolt leaving us to ask the awkward questions about what happens next.

You've made it clear you believe that was LB's last game as the SMU HC.

regardless there is nothing awkward about the question of what happens next.

LB said at the end he is going to be here for awhile. NO idea why he would say that if he didn't mean it.

If he leaves - Tim is ready to go. Thats why he is here. Everyone attributing all of this to just LB is in for a positive surprise.

We have seen the promised land and we aint going back. THe investment in basketball is here to stay. Great coach, great facilities AND two or three of the best recruiters in the country are now standard operating at SMU.
