The hard sciences neeeeeeed the money. Good lord both the chemistry and the biology labs need a redo. (only geology i was involved with also seemed like they could use the money) It would be great to see a dedicated research building in the future to expand the amount of undergraduates and graduates working on research.

Friar - disagree - they have known they would bust 1b for a long time. You do campaigns like this with the coordination of a great number of regular donors - so you will see some hold back money coming in between now and year end - quite a bit of it I would guess.

The only goal now still in question is the percentage of giving goal - and we have basically 2 months to reach it. If you have not made a gift since June 1 it would be great if you could spend even 10 bucks to get on the "rolls" as a giver. We need to break 25% which we have never done.

probably preaching to the choir here....but worth a shot.

Great quote!

As far as arts schools go, Oberlin is a great school

How many of the wealthiest alums are hard science grads? Are these departments typically underrepresented in large gifts? A&M has been beefing up its statistics program but I'm not sure if it's due to donations or internal resource allocations.
