cargo you know nothing of our school. I came from nothing and everyone at SMU was very friendly, i learned a ton and am friends with many "silver spoon" guys to this day who would never let you know it. Its called a meritocracy - if you work hard and find a way to meet the opportunity you can get it done.
Blue collar or not, there is no comparing our universities. Its not about feeling comfortable, its about finding the opportunity and making your place in it. SMU has a way of making that happen if you are awake. If you just want to be comfortable then UH is probably the right choice.

Generally when kids are in a more comfortable setting they study better. I would imagine the make up of UH somewhat different than SMU from an ethnic background standpoint as well which might make some African American kids feel more at home and fit in better so to speak but SMU does offer the better education. But more good looking African American women go to UH than SMU and Texas Southern is right down the street and they are full of them. It is a smorgasbord of those players of color. UH will get their players and SMU will gets theirs. There is enough talent to go around but at this time UH does have more talent than SMU but SMU will catch up.

Of the top 5 I think his favorites are Wake, SMU, and UH. Crystal Ball has been wrong before but I hope it is right this time.

UH = 30,000 students vastly commuter on a putrid patch of swamp land
SMU = 6,500 students vastly on campus which happens to be one of the most beautiful in America
My parents were public school teachers in East Texas and I drove a ten year old car with no air conditioning my first two years at SMU. Yeah I really had the silver spoon firmly planted in my mouth.

Sorry that facts and statistics are hard for you. Then again you went to UH, the bastion of academia

Oh it was a culture shock to me alright! The girls, the connections, the city, the girls, all very shocking. Did I mention the girls?
Don't forget the girls though.

CG, it is just what you are aiming for, and where you believe you would fit. I was aiming for the highest rung I could, and went to SMU on an assembly of scholarships and grants. Lower middle class, parents that worked, from a smaller town that at that time was north of Dallas...now it is swallowed by the Metroplex.
If UH is your fit, so be it. I knew folks that could buy and sell me 1000 times over while at SMU, and I knew folks from VERY humble means. The one common denominator was that they wanted a quality of education that was lacking at many other schools.
I will never be confused for a rich, snobby guy...well at least not for the rich part. I will also never regret my time and degree at/from SMU. Sticking with the gross generalizations of grads of the two schools is like a person asking you to please re-stock the Big Gulp cups at the 7-11. It probably doesn't fit, and gets old mighty quick.
Hope you garnered as much while you were at UH....see you in the fall.

Moore appreciates the candor. SMU has done a great job.
"It was the best overall visit," Moore says. "I was surprised."

83% SMU now. I haven't heard much of this QB linked to us before this but I will gladly take him. I'll refrain from commenting on the poster that said he's going to Houston until after his decision.

"If you liked H-Town, you'll really love your home in Dallas," Moore says Morris said.
Damn I love our coach.
Also from the article: "SMU's facilities are nice and being upgraded. In Moore's eyes, these resources are closer to A&M's than UH's were. And he much prefers Dallas to Houston." + "But there's a caveat: Once you commit, no visiting other schools. Don't jump on before you are sure. And once you are on board, we are all in. No recruiting other QBs."
Great article Sbsmith, thanks for the link.

Most telling part of this article....
"But there's a caveat: Once you commit, no visiting other schools. Don't jump on before you are sure. And once you are on board, we are all in. No recruiting other QBs."
I would think given our current depth we would need more than 1 QB in our next class.

With all of our other needs for 2016, I think we should be fine with Moore. Stock up on OL and DB
