But the real reasons he landed this kid is his brother plays at Houston and high school head coach is on the staff now, not too complicated. I do know it will be a struggle to hold onto him through NSD, Saban is after him hard too.
Herman also landed a really nice QB prospect. I'm sure the new stadium and coming off a natty doesn't hurt the recruiting front either. Still, huge get for Houston. I can't even remember Houston ever being relevant in football though?
FWIW, that QB they got (Bowman Sells) was our second choice, after we got David Moore. Haha

Yeah, but Moore called ASU and A&M dreams schools in his post commitment interviews and just the other day gave an interview with Scout talking about how he was really happy about his recent Syracuse offer, that he wanted it all along, and he's going to give them a very serious look.
All of this after the staff said don't commit if you're not ready or solid since you're an out of state QB and we're taking a chance on you. You shut it down, we shut it down.
I get that we're going to always have to fight for anyone good until he signs on the dotted line, but if he's still campaigning for other offers this publicly, he's not sticking around long.

Yes he has indeed said that, but his actions are that he committed to SMU and that to me says 1000x more than his words about dream schools etc. If he did so to save himself a spot while waiting for an A&M or ASU offer (which I don't think will come) then too bad for us and we will have to get another QB. Doubt that the staff is really shutting down their 2016 QB recruitment even w Moore on board. It is up to the staff to keep him committed til Feb 2016 and if they do, we will know that SMU hired the right guys.

Been wondering where you've been. haha. But it is the off season, and our biggest news lately is just having Vick stolen from us by one of LB's pupils.
Yeah man, it's been a combination of both the offseason and I just started a new business. So I've been really busy with that and ramping it up. I actually just finished off my Master's degree and had been traveling quite a bit too from March-April. Took in my first UNC-Duke game and sat about 3 rows off the floor for Duke/Wake at Cameron, was pretty sick. Then had a bunch of presentations in NYC for various consulting projects...I can tell you more if interested but it was pretty damn cool to be presenting analytics findings to the GM of the NYG and giving draft advice. Like I said, just busy more than anything. You got my digits tho, hit me up anytime. I should be getting to see a lot of prospects on the AAU circuit here. Probably be living in the gym trying to get my sister prepared for college ball this fall, I think she thinks shes just gonna step on the court and start...not exactly the way it works at the D1 level ha.
Anyways, will definitely try to be more active, especially as I follow more hoops this summer. There's quite a few kids that I've been hearing about that I'll be getting my first look at.

2011, #7 UH vs #24 USM , L 28-49, That was a lot of money for CUSA left on the table.
Why so much hatred for my Coogs? If anything, we should want to see both of our programs be successful; SMU and UH always get screwed over. I don't mind jumping to another conference with you guys.
As for the loss to USM, we got screwed by A&M and Sumlin; instead of preparing the team, he kept going back and forth to college station to interview for the HC opening. Scumlin.
And add DE Michael Johnson. Per 24/7 sports, we have the #33 ranked recruiting class right now. Now I know how you guys felt when you picked up a few big ones in a row.
Looks like 247 jumped the gun on johnson

Rivals has Oliver as a 4, Elliot as a 3 and Dixie as a 2. They're the best talent evaluation site and they don't overhype people just to get a certain number of players in each star catagory.
Don't get me wrong, those are some good pickups, and we'd be thrilled to have them, but slow your roll a little.

I'll buy that as a legitimate argument from you (even if I disagree) if you're consistent with your logic. Ben Hicks and David Moore having rankings of 5.5 on Rivals. Bowman Sells is ranked at 5.7. Are you saying that Sells is a better prospect than those 2?
Elliott has a ton of offers too. Oliver and Elliot could serve as anchors for the UH defensive line for years to come. UH is getting talent around the Houston area. I think SMU will do the similar in the DFW area as well but it may take a bit longer since we had such a bad year last year.
