It would be nice to have a school in the league that can fill its stadium more than once a season.

When they travel, they do a nice job of filling up the other team's stadium as well (with both home/away fans).
1) they are the Mormon version of Notre Dame. Anywhere there are Mormons, there are BYU fans likely to show up to the game.
2) as a SMU/Uconn/UCF/USF/etc fan, you have heard of BYU and might be interested in seeing them play. That doesn't happen when random MWC/MAC/CUSA school comes to town.

They won't play on Sundays which makes it tough on conference TV deals.

How many days per year does the AAC really have Sunday football games?
Football - almost Zero
Basketball - make them a feature game on Saturday.
#minorproblems for a conference like the AAC.

Are you confused by nut punches?

Their future problem will be scheduling. After all the P5 people decide that they need the power points to compete for the national title and only schedule among themselves, BYU will be without a national schedule and top opponents. At that time they will need to be in a conference. ND is the exception based on fan base, long time relationship with NBC and history.
That and they have no access to the major bowls, since there is only one spot reserved and it goes to a G5 team. They would basically have to make the playoff. It's not a big thing but over time they may get tired of playing in the same mid-tier bowl over and over.
You're both wrong. The ACC and the SEC both count BYU as a P-5 opponent for OOC purposes. And BYU counts as a G-5 team as defined by the terms of the playoff. There is very little reason that they shouldn't get to one of the access bowls every few years. They're basically Notre Dame Lite

Correct, they are an independent, not a G-5

To be fair, that is more than a little self-serving by both the ACC & SEC. "BYU is a P-5 equivalent because we say they are." And the reason they say BYU is equivalent to another P-5 team is because they need them to be to make their OOC look better.
I do give BYU a lot of credit for the vast improvement in football over the past several years. They are making the most of their opportunities.
Do I want them as conference mates... No (No other reason than I just don't like them).

lol@ BYU ever being invited to the PAC 12. Besides obvious religious reasons their adherence to not playing athletic events on Sunday kills any chance they have of PAC 12. New Mexico State has a better chance of PAC 12 than BYU.
