Both hires were great for their respective schools. Herman is, obviously, a fantastic coach, but I don't think it would have worked here. SMU needs an "aw shucks, roll up your sleeves, and we're going to work together and make this great" kinda guy brimming with positive energy. Obviously, you know, he needs to be able to coach and recruit. That's Morris to a "t." Herman, at SMU, would have been abrasive, confounded by the decrepit talent, and likely would have been irritated as all hell at the lack of fan support, and would have looked to jump after year one. He's a great fit in Houston, Morris is a great fit here.

Gotta love the end where the radio host asks Coach Herman if they can have lunch when things slow down and he replies "absolutely not."

Very interesting comparison ... and possibly very accurate.

That station is not Houston's version of the Ticket if it's worth listening for 20 minutes. Or for 1 minute.
