We were 9-10 pt dogs at Cinci and lost by 11. We were favored by one over UConn at home and lost by 12 after leading by seven at the half. I thought 14 would be about right.

From a Rich Phillips type fan:
"Sunday was the 1st time I saw this year's team in person. With the exception of the missed assignments on defense when UH tried to press, I was ok with the performance. UConn is better than UH and that is ok. Robinson Jr and Rob Gray will be the starting backcourt on a tourney team before they leave campus IMO. You can't beat good teams with no functional bigs. Pollard's shot selection was poor yesterday and the team desperately needs one big that can finish above the rim to take advantage of Robinson's ability to drive and dish."
and this insight:
Our bigs are terrible. When UCONN has no respect for our bigs ability to finish inside they can pressure our guards and take away our strength. We will continue to struggle against teams with decent bigs. We don't need great frontcourt players we just need a couple that hang onto a rebound or make a freakin' layup without getting stripped by a 6 foot guard on the inside. CKS has made real progress with our guard play this year. Next year he has got to bring in a couple of big men that can play A LITTLE.
++++++++++
Need a complete game (who doesn't?). At Cinci, bigs did okay with +2 rebound margin but guards seemed sloppy with 9 assists to 17 turnovers. Vs UConn, we had eight fewer rebounds, but 11 assists to nine turnovers.
Sampson is making solid strides after he lost his top two players when he came in (House to A&M and Thomas to OU). He's had some transfers but not to the extent that Larry had (MK and Nic). UH is also paying Sampson less, doesn't have a Jank type waiting and is 2-3 years behind on facilities. I'm encouraged and think the team might play well after a disappointing loss. After the previous two losses, we had OT wins over LSU and Wyoming. We'll see.

Watching the UH/UConn game, Houston's lack of anything inside is what stood out to me. Everything comes from the perimeter.

Would be great to see Markus keep the momentum rolling into this game and go off.

Re: OFFICIAL GAME 18 THREAD: SMU vs. COOG HIGH
This is going to be another game where we play soft defensively in the beginning and then tighten up as the game goes along. Hopefully UH isn't too hot from three in the first half and our offense doesn't struggle like it did last week. Adding the football players in practice should help our offense start to look a little better.
We started out the season playing fantastically against the zone on offense. We have really struggled against it for a few games in a row. Hopefully we have enough guys now to practice against it.

I always am concerned when we play Houston. They have had our number too many times.
