I have been saying exactly this all year. Once MK lost his butt, he became less effective - as his game did not really change to match his slimmer physique.

Yet he still plays limited time and is usually one of the top scorers.

I guess you can call him a bust if you want, or you can bring up the fact that he has fought through a serious ankle sprain for most of the season. When he wasn't on the court he was in a walking boot the last couple of months. Most guys would not have even tried to play but MK knew the team had to have him. I was told his ankle is still only about 70% healed, and won't get back to 100% until he takes an extended amount of time off. For his efforts he gets called a bust, that's nice.
I specifically put in "relative" because he's definitely been serviceable and even very good at times, but just hasn't been what he was. I know his ankle is still messed up, and I give him loads of credit for playing, that doesn't mean we can't compare his past performance to this years performance.
I totally get your point though.

Yeah, MK's production this year is all about his ankle, not his weight. Losing this weight will serve him well after his ankle heals and he is playing pro-ball somewhere. He has been clutch for us in a bunch of games of late when everyone else was flat.

Honestly, watching MK this year has been sad because you know he's much better than what he's putting out on the floor.
I appreciate and salute his effort, but it's been brutal to watch at times.

The injury did not help him. I guess had he known he was going to have this kind of year he would have gone pro last year when he won 6th man of the year. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

This.
I really think the ankle injury is worse than most people thought. It's true that he was in a walking boot after games. He really had no choice but to play on it. He's killed any shot he had (however slim) of being drafted by gutting it out this year for the team.

I was waiting for you to comment on this one. You've been saying that all year. Better with the butt. You're 100% correct.

MK's season:
SHS: foul trouble, 16 minutes, but still 3-3, 7 points and 6 assists
Stanford: foul trouble, 18 minutes, but still 6-8, 14 points
Yale: 33 minutes, 6-10, 12 points, 13 boards, 4 assists
Brown: struggles, 6-15, but still 13 and 5
TCU: Foul trouble, 23 minutes, 7-9, 15 and 6
UNH: Blowout, 26 minutes, 8 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 3 blocks
Michigan: hurt
On the season: 9.7 points, 6.4 reb 1.9 assits
Before the injury: 11.5 points. Shooting percentage much better. Assists way higher.
Before the injury, everyone was talking about how quick he looked, how much better he looked. He just couldn't stay out of foul trouble with the new rules. Nobody was complaining about his weight or butt back then...

I want to take this thread behind the woodshed and make love to it. I have no interest in destroying a solid Mustang like Markus, even if this thread requires some of my best work to save it.

I did not say best player, I said best post moves. Names 4 players with better inside post moves?
Best post moves in this country? Let's see...
Karl Malone
Kevin Garnett
David Robinson
Charles Barkley
Shaquille O'Neil
Tim Duncan
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Dirk Nowitzki
LeBron James

Love MK cause he's one of us and stuck it out. But there are several reasons you won't be seeing much more of him in a ball uni. Ever notice pre or post injury that after he had one rejected back in his face, had one stolen, or anything else that looked lazy or half arsed he all of a sudden look much healthier the next trip down the court?

Yep, a big butt can do wonders for your post gane, just ask the great and way under appreciated Mark Aguire. He was a key to turning the Pistons season in their first title, watch 30 for 30 on the bad boys, it's a good one.
