5-9 safety? Hope we are thinking CB, but he doesn't seem fast enough.

The Sparq time and height might be dated. On Junior Day they may have measured his height and weight at 5'11 180 like it says on another profile. Either way at least we are not getting almost a third of the class as ditr players. At least he has a few FBS offers.

One of those "underwhelming" recruits we had earlier this year was a zero star, no offer guy named Carson Green who is now magically a 3 star and flipped to Texas A&M.

Love the Texas hospitality! Likewise!

Best be a little more selective from here on out, with only 13 Seniors on the Spring roster.

McQueen actually got an initial rating of 3 star 81 rating from 247Sports based on the first rating (out of 4) which I believe came from the 247 analyst.

There will be more that disappear or graduate early. Numbers won't be a problem.

XC - I wouldn't be too concerned. At Spring, there weren't any guys that made you think "why in the hell did we offer him?" from Morris' first class. Maybe Wilds isn't where I would like him to be, but he is an OL and it can take a while. Even Hicks, who struggled in the spring, has potential - you can see the arm strength. The staff is really good at player evaluation, I would absolutely trust them on that.

Thank you Jason for an excellent analysis. I think the recruiting by this staff has made recruiting fun again.

Chad & Co following the "Patterson rule" of identifying talent and projecting their positions. Look for some of those 2016 guys to grow into their positions

Not to stir it up, but when I see a new thread posted by footballdad about a recruit that has committed to SMU, I already know doesn't have any meaningful offers.

You're not stirring, I post every one as soon as I see them. The lack of offers in this class so far, has nothing to do with me, and whether or not I post them.

I think anybody who is being honest with themselves, would admit, they probably expected this 3rd recruiting class to have more highly rated guys than we've seen so far. Upgrades are still possible, and it's early, so we'll see what happens.

Not to stir it up, but Houston's latest commit is a 3 star WR with 13 offers, 6 of which are P5..........just sayin'

We've had commitments from 3 recruits that made a Top 100 list (Ali-Scout Texas No. 93 and Hampton Scout Texas No. 97)-lost Ebner but he's still in close contact with SMU coaching staff. We lost a 3 star to Texas A&M. We'll have a great recruiting class for a 2 win team. I think Ndukwe kid will blow up and end up with 15-20 offers. Cade Brewer already has 10 offers including multiple P5. I think Guy-Robinson is likely to be a 3 star on Scout based upon the comments their National Recruiting Analyst and regional analyst made and his performance at The Opening. Even the Ar'mani Johnson kid was Defensive MVP at the NextLevelAthlete Soth Texas combine. The Defensive End Harrison Loveless has quality size and had the 2nd fastest 20 yard shuttle among over 250 Texas Defensive Line recruits. Not sure how McQueen the Corsicana 5-9 Safety fits but his video is pretty impressive. The common denominator among most SMU recruits who are not highly rated is that they stood out and performed well at scouting combines. SMU jumped on them because unlike the last staff they were doing their homework. On 247.com we have 6 out of 9 commits rated 3 star or better. Collectively they have around 55 offers 8 months before signing date. The offers are still going out from schools across the country.

let's just wait and see what happens with Chad & Co's DITR recruits. If they blow up their senior seasons, methinks there will be more offers...or we can just wait 2-3 years to see how well this coaching staff judges talent. Given the relationships they are forging with H.S. coaches, I think they may have a pretty good inside track on DITR recruits, but only time will tell.

BTW McQueen is being recruited as a Star not Safety or LB based on his quotes based on meetings with SMU Coaches

To emphasize the last bit of Stallion's post, I think some of it has to do with the fact that SMU is much more proactively identifying and chasing recruits, so we're seeing and offering more kids early -- long before many of them are evaluated by the recruiting services. Like the kid who was unrated until he went to TAMU and picked up 3 stars. And even then, my guess is that his evaluation was as detailed as "Morris offered him early and now he's flipped to the Aggies, so he must be at least a 3-star; let's start him off there." We'll be seeing more detail, and rating upgrades and downgrades, as more offers come out and the recruiting services have more tape to watch this fall.
