But we do have a true freshman who was recruited to play safety.
Citation?

Hell I'd rather have Collin Rock play than Darrell Colbert who is not a Division 1A QB

It was ugly. Definitely a lack of focus, intensity and attention to detail. The team was flat as 2 day old beer in its execution. The D was more solid than the O. Yes, we did have a good number of interceptions. A huge plus. And we had a running game that we decided to not exploit. I don't understand that.
O line wasn't the worst we have seen. Hicks has been thrown into the spotlight and is doing as one would expect from a Fr. QB. He'll improve with experience and more comfort with gamely speed.
Special teams are special case nobody knows what is going to happen. We need to be more solid in all phases of the kicking game.
If this was the only game played this year, then the usual panic would be justified. But this wasn't even close to the team that played NTSU and BU.
I expect a much more focused, sharper performance against TCU.

Agree ponyte. I actually think we COULD be pretty good if Hicks starts clicking and X Jones is back to full strength.

I think Hicks really started fussing at his offensive line at one point in the game. Maybe it was regarding pass protection. I think they will do better against TCU.

Defense played great for the majority of the game. Defensive line did really well. The two drives they had at the end of the game, we still hit them behind the line, but were tired and didn't wrap up. Not sure why we were tired - lots of rotation. But we were still there. Wyatt was great the whole game. And then gets burned once and responds with a pick 6 on the next possession. Awesome.
We rolled up 500 yards of offense. Even though we were without our starting RB, a QB in his first home game, and Sutton was in and out of the game and obviously not at 100%.
The running game is inconsistent because our OL isn't that great. That will come next year. When we got inside the 20, Liberty loaded up, we couldn't get a push, and obviously we were hesitant to let Ben pass after 2 more INTs. Carmouche and Freeman are both bigger backs, but both also run pretty tall, especially Carmouche, which hurts them if they get hit early. I expected a little more creativity in the red zone with some jet sweeps, something to get wide, but it could be Morris knows that won't work against fast defenses like TCU and Houston. I wouldn't be surprised at all at some point this year for Colbert to be our red zone QB like Texas does with Swoopes. I think it is also important to note we haven't busted out the fade to Sutton or Honey yet, and that will pretty much be a staple at some point this season.
We are going to be in some ugly games, sure. But the offense is actually more consistent than it was last season. If we score touchdowns instead of picks and hit a 30 yard field goal last night, it is a laugher. At some point this season, I think that transition will happen with Hicks and we will put some distance between us and the lower end teams in the conference.

Red zone offense looks a lot like June Jones is still in charge.

loving the hawks in our secondary. Wyatt and H-Rich are putting in work!

We have some "Ball Hawks" and they can play ball. It was too hot and disgustingly humid last night - but I had a good time! We finished a game last night - thank goodness.

Fussing? Do starting QBs fuss? Maybe that's the problem right there!
