we are better than last year...barely, but it is discernible...
We win 4 this year.
We win 4 this year.

Chad is not stupid. He knew exactly what he was getting into, and I admire him for not being afraid of this challenging situation. If he can put together a couple of bowl seasons and knock off a couple of Big 12 teams along the way a P5 school somewhere will make him an offer. It is no secret in the college football world that he started with nothing here. This place can be a career killer, and he knew it, but was willing to give it a shot anyway.

We're a lot better than last year.
If Davis had gone done in the first game LY, let alone the other injuries, we don't win a game and get blown out by an FCS team.
Translation: we are at least four wins better than last year.

There is no way he knew it was this bad. This is the worst it has ever been counting two 0 win seasons.

I get physically tired, but mentally? Screw that. We aren't playing Alabama out there. And yes, I expect our freshman to be able to hang with the ACC. Time to stop accepting losing. Good for chad.

Not sure 1916 is very relevant to today. This is still better than 2003 was.

Might be a good time to plant a nice big sticker patch for practicing in on the Mondays following poor performances. Maybe a trip to Junction, Texas next summer??? Sit-ups in only jock straps on bare concrete floors? How bad do the current crop of SMU players want to win? Snowflakes go home!!!
Ruminatin' late near the Northern Lights, but maybe look at luring someone akin to Dana Bible away from the 49ers. After all, the last two QBs he recruited and coached at NC St. both went on to the NFL, Glennon and Russell Wilson who already has a Super Bowl under his belt.
Add Erik Kramer (NFL from 1987-1999), Chad Hutchinson (Stanford - to the NFL), Tim Hasselbeck at Boston C. (OK, well, at least he played some in the NFL), Matt Ryan (also from BC, and 9 years with the Falcons; 3 Pro Bowls, 33,000+ yards passing, etc. etc.). Bio? QB talent spotter and trainer of NFL caliber QBs; you know, guys with hands big enough to hold the ball. Wilson and Ryan are likely in the HOF when the shouting and cheering have faded.
How many SMU QBs have played in the NFL since you were born? Meredith, Rhome, Livingston, McCown - 56 years. IMO, we need a QB that has at least a 50/50 shot of hitting the NFL more than 4 times in 56 years.
Anyway, back to the sticker patch, and throw in some damn big goathead seeds while we're at it!!! If there's no desire to suffer and win on Saturdays, then suffer on Mondays, or go home to Mama.

Agree. Would be interesting to see. Trouble is when your whole deal is everything-is-awesome positive feedback then that would be an incredible culture shock to all. Hard to suddenly go negative effectively. Hell kids today can't even play or practice without a constant stream of their favorite music blaring at all times these days.
Either way, I think our QB / OL / RBs are banged up to a point that anything we try to do right now on the field will be very difficult, including punishment workouts.

I hope he continues to keep the young offensive linemen redshirted. He knows they need the extra year and it will pay dividends in the future.
