Who else was higher before other than Herman?

Only Tuberville at Cinci -- $2.2 million
Navy coach is at $2 million, which I believe is about where Chad is. (?)

Yeah I thought Chad was around $2M as well. Surprised Navy is that high.

And that's how the game is played-guess you don't pay attention much. SMU's alumni have been funding the athletic department at the highest levels of G5 for about 8 years now. We don't get to pass a student athletic fee, get state funding, cash 40 Million Dollar checks from a FBS Conference or have revenues from 40,000-60,000 season ticket holders-we will get the athletic program our alumni are willing to fund so than 200 SMU students can storm the field after beating a major rival. You can thank me for educating you so you don't sound so clueless in the future

Honestly at this point the damage has already been done. Hard to see recruits wanting to come here knowing that Morris will be looking to jump after every season.

Well at least we have stopped saying Herman is leaving, which he might be. I hear you guys are going to give him some more money as well.

Preparation and attractiveness to the new coach that could take over as well as stability for the program if we can get another year.

Exactly. It's part of the dance and provides leverage. This is a small private institution with a tiny athletic budget, but a few high rollers that like to whip it out. He didn't invent this. If we want him, we will pay and get closer to an IPF. If not, he gets a 'better' bigger gig and we move on.

Exactly! I'm thinking 10-2 season which would be tremendous for us and for Morris.

Guys and Gals, the good news:

SMU's coach has done a good enough job that someone else wants him from the P5. If we were asked to face this challenge with one game to go prior to the start of this season, I dare to think all of us would be thrilled to have the team/coach/University in this position, at this time. It beats the "ASU" issue from a few years back...
