Cox MustangFan, keep in mind Tim Jankovich had Illinois State in the NIT 4 of 5 season he coached there. Tim Jankovich recruited Nic Moore to Illinois State and then got him to follow him to SMU. Tim Jankovich coached in practice and games the SMU team that started last season 9-0. He has not forgotten how to coach all of a sudden. Yes, we are not playing up to expectations so far this season, but your post is ridiculous.

....just glad he could make it to a game to complain about poor attendance.

So are you saying that we are going to the NIT and not the NCAA tournament?

No, I'm just shocked we've come to accept this unbelievable regression. "Most schools" equate to about 15. That's the number of D-1 schools that would be happy playing in front of 1500 fans in a library quiet arena, coached by someone who has no right being a head coach (at this level).

Jobs need to be lost over this. If you don't think so, make sure you grab the lights as you and the remaining 600 leave.

CMF, you're way better than this post. This program has only been good for 3 years, w/mostly the same cast of characters. Sanctions have destroyed depth and LB left during the open period in July. I've never been big Jank people, as everyone knows, but even if I wanted to go national w/a search, timing made it impossible. Beyond that, given the culture and family established over the last few, made more sense to stay the course.

Given all of that, Jank made all the right moves in terms of staff adjustments. Demoted Hobbie, promoted Duncs, brought on Forrest. He said all the right things about style of play, pace, 3s etc. Signed a really solid first class in no time etc.

Admittedly, we've played poorly for the most part and only have one decent win and 2 road losses. Certainly, Boise was a joke. We aren't particularly fun to watch and few on the squad exhibit huge passion on the floor. There are major issues in terms of performance, but the SMU crowd and game day environment is what it is. Anyone who thought the fanbases zeal would trancend bad performances and product, based off 3 seasons, doesn't know this fanbase. SMU is front runner central. At this point, hope for better play, some wins, and give Jank a minute to round the roster in his vision

I took my family out to the game against cal state- Bakersfield and I was too shocked by the difference in crowd size and noise level. I agree with the frustrations and I wonder how much of it is due to our crappy inexcusable losses more so than just LB being gone. I feel he had a huge impact in bringing celebrities and crowds. Also outside of the win on Friday, that felt like a horrible game to watch. I even yelled out to the kid getting the ruthie gift card, "you made the team!" and got a few crowd chuckles. Of course they are the tea sipping no-cheer fans but still.

You're right, Hoop. I'm just a fool for hoping for more.

Carry on.

Inexcusable losses? Michigan and USC were inexcusable losses?

Not sure I would use the word inexcusable, but Boise State was an unexpected loss. More than anything we've looked bad since the Michigan game. I still think we have the talent to make the NCAA tournament but the team needs to wake up soon and avoid any more losses out of conference.

At some point, kids have to take a step too. based off year to year improvement, I really felt like we'd have seen Ben and Sterling become 15 or 16 ppg kids as seniors. They're mostly the same players and haven't grabbed the ring. That's dissapointing

We all need to chill. Jank is a good coach and needs time to mold this team and continue to bring in his guys.
I love this staff. Jank, JT, and Duncs are top drawer.
We can get to the tourney if we play well. I'm not discouraged. I'd like to see a season of evidence before I begin to pass judgement on the Jank era.

Furthermore, to compare a December game against a low ranked opponent to the game that inaugurated the New Moody against the recent national champion is crazy.

Granted LB brought star appeal but that is what it is. We now move on. We all new this day would come and I for one look forward with confidence.

Jank will be fine.

Fair comments, but I've followed his career (closely) LONG before he was at SMU, and I wasn't a fan of his hiring. These aren't new concerns (at least for me).
