I was there for much of Flanagan's reign. He actually DID compete with a QB early on. Some red headed kid I think.

He was my idol in high school. I used the name Ramon when I ordered at Burger House.

In Cavan's first year the thought Chris Sanders was going to be the QB.

I've posted before about arriving at LAX and not getting further than the bar until the game on the West Coast was over. Flannigan may not have many all time spots on the SMU lists other than for longevity but no one who saw the game live or on TV will soon forget the game he played that day.

Having said that I'm not sure what it has to do with the 2017 QB position. I hope MD gets the medical redshirt although the chance has been called unlikely and if he does his overall college career might rival Flannigan's though not in red and blue.

I agree -so will Peavy be a sophomore in eligibility next year? He and Brewer should generate some great competition.

Pretty sure Rafe Peavey will be a junior next year. It is the perfect timeline especially if we are able to snag a top tier QB in the 2018 class. Brewer redshirts in 2017 and is ready to roll as a redshirt sophomore in 2019 with healthy competition from the incoming recruiting class. We are finally developing some actual depth at the QB position.

Holding on to Gillins was a nice win for us - some SEC programs came calling late, and I read that he took a late OV to Ole Miss. I wouldn't sleep on him to grab the QB job as well.

If Gillins has a decent arm and we have an inexperienced or weak o-line, I wouldn't mind having him start since he could make plays with his feet
