Analytics are funny. Heard a rant by D'antoni's bro, who I think is at Marshall , and in hilarious fashion he went about diatribing about the best shots in hoops etc. He spent some time railing on posting up, asked the reporter if he saw the Cavs, Rockets or Warriors play ever. How much do they feed the post etc? Funny stuff. That said, there's a lot missing from those sorts of takes and they rip the soul out of the sport. You don't have to score time and again, over your shoulders, to know what feeding the ball down there does for spacing in certain sets, how it helps free up higher percentage shots etc. Undisciplined guards doubling down etc
Most teams in college don't want their kids on the O glass at the expense of getting back. Just like the biggest joke in all of hoops is that great rebounders box out. Great rebounders attack the ball and find it, not put their arse into the guys behind them and hold them off.
Anyway, I'm not anti-analytics, I just think they're like any tool. If you know how to use them, they're helpful and you can build things. If you don't know how to use them, you can cut off your arm

The proliferation of 3 point shots has to change the equation some it would seem-there are rebounds available farther from the rim these days just by hustling which gives our 6-6 type athletes an opportunity to go get 'em

Ill take our defense over analytics (good and bad) anyday. I will take pur "small" team plus 20 rebounds any day. That is truly a staggering number. Those of us in statistics know you can make numbers say whatever you want them too. Discerning the truth is a different story

Has anyone on this board watched our women play? Alicia Froling is the poster child of this statement.

So in the new poll, Temple has wins over #7 & #12. And then they score 11 points in the first half against UCF, and get thumped by 23.

Bunches of seats available for this one, and only a handful of students will attend. Moody needs to be rockin' to keep the home court mojo.

Agreed. Everyone needs to get there and be loud. Moody hasn't been quite as full or loud as some past years (2-3 years) most of this year. Still been good for TCU & Stanford. It's conference now against the team that ended our winning streak last year. We need to show them what the best conference home court is.

Temple seems very inconsistent, that makes me nervous. I could see a blow-out, or a nail bitter. Not a fan of these games. Just don't know what to expect. We've been a little inconsistent as well, but pretty consistent at home.

How do you figure these guys out?
Against FSU they were down 10 at half and even more in the second but came back for the win.
Against Press Virginia they were up by 20 in the first half and almost blew the win down the stretch.
Conclusion: Not capable of playing a complete game but streaky as heck.
In BOTH games they shot better than 50% from 3. That's trouble. Apparently they can heat up and shoot well enough to win an entire game with half a game of good three point shooting.
Shooting percentages in their major losses (from 2/from3)
Villanova: 36.7/35.7%
Cinn: 26.7/19.2%
UCF: 31.3/20%
It looks like they go hot and cold as a team. One guy has a bad night, they all do.....or they all shoot lights out.
They shoot well from the free throw line.
They do seem to foul alot so we need a strong night from the line.
We'll need a relentless defensive effort for 40 minutes...pretty much like Cinncinnati did.

I hope the guys, as Jank alluded to in his radio show, remember Temple is the one that won conference last year by one game and ended our undefeated streak. Come out with some extra fire and want to blow them out.

Looking forward to this one....been on the road for too many of our home games this year. Me +1 will be there and be loud.
